He’s expected to make a decision this weekend, and given his reputation for prudence and all things cautious, i doubt that he will call an election sooner rather than later. The latest batch of opinion polls put Labour and average of 2 points ahead of the tories-not massive enough for Gordon ‘dependable’ Brown to feel confident of victory i think.
Given the unedifying battle for the centre ground, and general homogeneity of British politics these days, this news may not set our collective pulses racing, but there are still important issues at stake-small differences can make a big difference to peoples lives.
Politics isn't what it was, but as Joni said 'Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you've got till it's gone', our democracy is far from perfect but still worth participating in.
The nights are getting longer and labours lead is getting shorter -my hunch is that he'll go the full term!
Yip. The Prince of Prudence will play it safe, safe, safe..
Always best to participate in democracy, regardless of how homogeneous and disconcerting it can be..
I recall seeing Brown at security at Heathrow about 3 years ago. One of the airport staff shouted: look! it's Gordon Brown! Check his pockets!!
He gave a wry smile, shook his head, and went his way. It's a tough life being a politician.
