Open de Moselle 2007

Metz, October 1-7

Official tournament website

Singles Draw

mightyjeditribble - October 1, 2007 11:37 AM (GMT)
The seeds are:

1. Robredo
2. Canas
3. Murray
4. Mathieu
5. Starace
6. Simon
7. Kohlschreiber
8. Andreev

Projected QF lineup:

Robredo-Simon
Mathieu-Andreev
Kohlschreiber-Murray
Starace-Canas

It will be interesting to see how Murray does in his first tournament where he is properly back after his injury. It's a pity he and Kohly have been drawn into the same quarter though. :(

Robredo and Canas will be hoping to pick up some points for Shanghai. However, they may be at a disadvantage if some of the other contenders do well in Tokyo, which is a bigger tournament and gives more race/ranking points.

Singles - First Round

[Q] E Korolev (RUS) d [5] P Starace (ITA) 63 63
[Q] J Melzer (AUT) d [Q] D Guez (FRA) 75 67(2) 62
J Benneteau (FRA) d [4] P Mathieu (FRA) 64 61
J Tsonga (FRA) d S Wawrinka (SUI) 67(6) 64 64

[3] [WC] A Murray (GBR) d J Tipsarevic (SRB) 64 16 62
A Seppi (ITA) d A Clement (FRA) 62 64

Good result for Andy, even though he dropped off in the second set. Tipsarevic is not an easy opponent to have in the first round, particularly when you're a bit rusty.

Singles - First Round

N Mahut (FRA) d [WC] M Montcourt (FRA) 62 75
N Lapentti (ECU) d N Massu (CHI) 36 64 76(3)
M Llodra (FRA) d W Eschauer (AUT) 41 ret (neck)

Singles - Second Round

[1] T Robredo (ESP) vs A Seppi (ITA)
[Q] E Korolev (RUS)vs M Gicquel (FRA)

No great surprises today - Massu continues his poor run of form, I see. Andy and Jamie are out of the doubles, which is a pity.

PS. I'll be in Denmark until Sunday, so probably won't be able to post any more results until the tournaments are over. Go Gasquet, Murray and Kohly!

Andy really had a good week, but what a pity to lose in the final after handing out a bagel in the first set! :o

I wonder whether it's the right decision to play again this week though. I guess he feels he needs the match practice, but he'll want to make sure that he's in form for the MS events. I'd like to see him reach a QF or SF in one of these, but that may be too much to ask at this point.

Well done to Tommy though, in any case.
