Title: What are you listening to right now?
trisco - September 25, 2007 04:57 PM (GMT)
I can't remember if we already have one of these but I will pin it here... nice to be able to see what people are listening to as you can find some good tunes that way. :D
I'll start :D
Moloko - the Time Is Now
trisco - September 25, 2007 05:01 PM (GMT)
GS2 - September 25, 2007 05:06 PM (GMT)
American Idiot - Green Day (I think!)
Not by choice though - it just happens to be what XFM are playing!

| Beck - The New Pollution |
I love Back, he's such a nutter :D Loser is a classic anthem :D
SuperBRAT - September 25, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
Donovan - Sunshine Superman (which seems to be on a beer advert now I think)
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fFbRc0eZmcUDonovan is interesting, Beck mayeb owes a little nod to him :)
greasepipe - September 25, 2007 06:03 PM (GMT)
Grinderman - no pussy blues
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuDP7c3Zd8I...related&search=play loud for maximum relief :ok:
Harry Potter - September 25, 2007 08:00 PM (GMT)
I'm listening to all the Fratellis songs I've got - they're basically the only band I really like, apart from ABBA (yes, I'm rather old fashioned) although I'm not in a very Mamma mia mood tonight B)
BIG-TODGER - September 25, 2007 08:50 PM (GMT)
English Folk Song Suite-Vaughan Williams.
Though i'm not crazy about it to be honest.

Beck ROCKS!!
Oh, the obscure lyrics that I posted in the lyrics game were from one of his songs, called 'Nitemare Hippy Girl' (from his album 'Mellow Gold'.. has great lines like: 'She's got Tofu the size of Texas'.
Also, if I'm in a noisemongering mood, then the song 'Motherf***er' (from the same ablum) has to be played.. or 'Novocaine' (from Odelay)
His last CD 'Guero' was fantastic.. back with the dust brothers :D

I have Odelay, but was slightly underwhelmed by it, maybe i should give it another listen-really like 'new pollution'
petalp - September 25, 2007 10:19 PM (GMT)
Beck can be a bit of an acquired taste, to be honest.
I have to admit that I wasn't a big fan of 'Loser' when it first came out.. but like it a lot now.
Odelay.. definitely worth another listen.. lots of great songs on it.. Devil's Haircut, Where It's At, the New Pollution, Novocaine, Lord Only Knows, Sissyneck.. probably a little weaker towareds the end of the albums.
But everyone I know has different favourite albums of his.. I love Guero, Odelay, Mellow Gold.. other people love Sea Change, Mutations, Midnight Vultures..
So talented though. seen him play 3-4 times.. can do any style of music..
petalp - September 25, 2007 10:22 PM (GMT)
I love this performance of 'Clap Hands' (from Guero)

Dinky Jo - September 25, 2007 10:33 PM (GMT)
My brother is a huge fan of Beck and insists on playing me Odelay every time I see him in the hope that I'll suddenly decide I have a great love of beck. i can't say his music really offends me, it just doesn't *do it* for me
right now, i'm listening to a song called Defying Gravity from the soundtrack to the musical Wicked
BIG-TODGER - September 25, 2007 10:54 PM (GMT)
i've got 'Dear Catastrophe Waitress' by Belle and Sebastian-it's a great album too.

Ah yes.. seen them live too.. and the audience were certainly indulging in a veritable cornucopia of pharmaceutical products.. ;)
Current listening to a cassette tape(!) that I've put onto a hard drive, of b sides of Cure singles from about 1978-85.. It is amazing!! Takes me right back. Throw Your Foot Away, Man Inside My Mouth, Mr Pink Eyes, Another Journey By Train, I'm Cold, Descent... terrific.. :D

What do you mean; obscure? ;)
"Tonight the city is full of morgues
And all the toilets are overflowing
There's shopping malls coming out of the walls
As we walk out among the manure
That's why
I pay no mind"
