Yeah but she is the higher ranked player Liam...

And that's what the seedings are always based on? :)

Liam your devotion to Nadia is unfaltering, however fickle it may turn out roflmao

However, rankings determine seeds :)

You gotta hand it to Choka with the sig and the comments under his Avatar.

Good luck Ana :kiss2:

i'll take ana or anna for this title.

and now petrova too knows what it feels like to be humbled by azarenka

Miss Suzi - September 28, 2007 08:52 PM (GMT)
Well the serbian Ana roasted Tatiana Golovin 6-1 6-2 to reach the semis... I think she plays Vera Zvonareva.... I will still give it Ana...that one.. she is playing quite well...

Anna Chakvetadze also beat bartoli 6-4 4-6 6-4... so possibly you might get your wish for an ANNA or ANA winner there... :)

 Correction from last night... my blunder.... Anna lost to Bartoli instead, an upset,... ... so the semis look like

Ana Ivanovic vs Vera

Daniela Hantuchova vs Marion Bartoli...(not chakvetadze...) ..

sorry, only one ANA wish then...

petalp - September 29, 2007 10:16 AM (GMT)
Good win for Marion Bartoli.. Anna C has been in good form over the summer.

Interesting semi finals.. good test for Ana I against Vera Z. Ana will probably win in 3, but of course being a fan of Vera, am hoping that she prevails.

Dani H v Marion B.. another interesting matchup. This one looks a little trickier to predict, although I have a sneaking feeling that Marion's competitive instinct will see her through. Again, though, am hoping for a Dani win, against the grain again!

The final should be an intriguing one too. Should be Ana's to win, but any of these 4 could take the title.

Wise_Analyst - September 29, 2007 03:52 PM (GMT)
Two one-sided semi-finals... Hantuchova beat Bartoli 6-2, 6-2 and Ivanovic saw Zvonareva off 6-4, 6-2. Hopefully the final can be a bit closer - certainly has the potential to do so.

Susi... after Ana lost to Zvonareva easily at the AO in January, you questioned her future - I think today she showed how far she's come since then. Vera really seemed to have Ana's number before she came on so much during the clay court season, but today it was the Serb who won at a canter. The only thing I really worry about with this girl is her attitude against the big 3 (Henin, Williams sisters). She has improvements to make elsewhere for sure, but that's the only glaring weakness for me.

Incidentally, after her demolition of Golovin in the QF, Ana became the fourth player to qualify for the YEC (after Henin, Jankovic and Kuznetsova) - which she originally stated was her main goal at the start of the season.

vivahate - September 29, 2007 04:05 PM (GMT)
ana should win this, but if dani wanted to turn the tide on her 2-5 record in finals - please do :)

:) Rubbing it in.....Wise.... yes Iam willing to eat humble pie...as long as she continues on to show more mental fortitude against the big players.
But not only that, she will have to improve her reserve game as well..cause honestly Justine and the Williams are tough because their game comes with a lot more punch and variety....so adding that to nerves she will be feeling normally ..its just a jump from the frying pan into the fire..cause you can't trade punch for punch with those girls..IMO.

:) But I think relative to Daniela she has more grit in such finals...but Daniela was no push over against bartoli..and this is an indoor court as well so Daniela she feel more at ease... both girls are great... may the best girl win...I just hope they both put up a good show... Daniela
being more defensive and occasionally counter attacking with drop shots and some clever line play... and Ana most like some stinging baseline play... trying to keep Daniela on the run...

liam_valid - September 30, 2007 02:04 PM (GMT)
Hantuchova took the first set 6-3, but Ana is one game away from levelling the match. Hantuchova serving at 3-5 second set

liam_valid - September 30, 2007 03:16 PM (GMT)
Ivanovic wins 3-6 6-4 6-4 :(

Wise_Analyst - September 30, 2007 04:14 PM (GMT)
 Went out with Ana 3-6, 0-3 down... comebacks are certainly turning into a speciality of hers. This must have been a good one too - Hantuchova looked like she was having one of "those" tournaments. Sounds like a great final.

Susi... apologies for the rubbing in. B)2 Thought the victory over Vera was a good indication of Ana's recent improvement. Agree with you though - if she can harness her all-round game, it may well give her more confidence against the big guns... but the signs of improvement are undoubtedly there and I'm happy to wait. :)

T01 - October 1, 2007 10:27 AM (GMT)
I think Daniela is still having doubts in her mind. It was 3 all in the final set and she took time before serving. It appeared as she was nervous about losing this crucial game and she only managed to win one point in that game and giving Ana the needed break.

But she was able to hold on the next game to stay in the match when she was serving 3-5 down. Crazy!

Her movement is a real weakness and I am sure everyone can see that exploit it.
