Nice thread!

Defintiely less play acting in the women's game as you say, and I have been impressed by the skill (although the goalkeeping standard has been suspect). I am quite looking forward to watching England versus the US on Saturday to be honest!

Yes the women's world cup is growing every time, I'm not sure the depth is there in the competition, and the goalkeepers have been terrible, but it has been good to see.

I do always think women's football is doomed to struggle though.

not sure about that Sam, I think that if it got a prime TV slot during this competition (even a Beeb 2 6 - 7pm) then that would work wonders. It won't be overnight, but I think it'll grow - especially in the US. Over here in Germany, the coverage is much better.

on skilI, agree about the goalkeeping, but the ball-playing skills - using both left and right feet to same level - and general pitch spatial awareness are truly excellent

I just think it's doomed to fail if it tries to muscle in on mens football - there really is only one winner, that comment isnt meant to he sexist at all.

We did feel the commentators on women's football were really poor - didn't help you hold your attention.
