Title: Davis cup live scoring

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
Wow, Massu really is in bad form, isn't he? He's 2 sets down against Sela. :yikes:

On serve 3-3 in the third.

Dinky Jo - September 20, 2007 02:34 PM (GMT)
 I thought it started tomorrow....or is this a time difference thing?

I don't understand it either. For some reason, Israel v Chile (and only them, I think) are playing the first matches on Thursday.

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 02:43 PM (GMT)
4-3 Massu now, on serve in the third.

What you meant to say was "that's a good point Mr Google and Mrs Wikipedia" :P

seems logical to me.....

not going too well for Chile though

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 02:57 PM (GMT)
Massu holds for 5-4 ... that's more games than he won in either of the first two sets ... and now he's 0-30 up ... can he turn things around and win the set here?

Hm. 15-30 now.

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
Nope ... Sela holds for 5-5, pressure back on Massu.

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 03:03 PM (GMT)
It's actually Yom Kippur on Saturday. That's why they changed the scheduling.

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 03:04 PM (GMT)
30-all. Crunch time for Massu.

Break point! :yikes:

If Sela breaks here, it is all but over.

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 03:05 PM (GMT)
And it's all but over.

damn Mr Google and Mrs Wikipedia.......

so Chile look like going 1-0 down, there's a fair chance that Israel will win the doubles......this might not be as easy for Chile as it first seemed

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 03:13 PM (GMT)
Massu manages to break back to force a tie-break :o

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 03:15 PM (GMT)
And Massu has the mini-break.

Even if he should win this set, it's a long way back though ...

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 03:20 PM (GMT)
4-3, Massu still with the mini-break. Can he win these next two points on his serve? That would give him 3 set points.

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 03:21 PM (GMT)
5-3 ... 5-4, he gives the mini-break back.

Must have been a mistake on the live scores, now it says he took the breaker to 3. :badpc:

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 03:24 PM (GMT)
Well done to Massu for fighting back there. He saved 7 break points during the course of that set.

It's still a long way back, but the momentum might be with him now. He always seems to play well when representing his country, in Davis Cup and of course at the Olympics.

The fact that he hasn't won a single match this year is worrying though.

i wonder whether Massu can fight back from 2 sets down  seems unlikely.....

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 03:26 PM (GMT)
The match has been going for almost 4 hours, and they could play another two sets

And I bet it's pretty hot over there as well.

Massu's quite a fighter though, so I wouldn't count him out completely.

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 03:28 PM (GMT)
Sela holds in the opening game of the fourth. I can't help but feel that Massu would need to break fairly early on here if he wants to take this to a decider.

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 03:35 PM (GMT)
Actually, I just checked the ATP site, and I don't think it's true that he didn't win an ATP match this year. Then I thought they might have meant on hard courts, but that's also not true, he beat Ferrero in Auckland. Admittedly, that was a while ago ...

Oh, now at least it says he hasn't won a Davis cup singles match this year. Well, considering he lost against Safin and Andreev, that's not such a big deal, is it ...

and they're saying singles match too - has he won a double one???

mind you, still doesn't seem like he's had the best year.....

Yes, they did actually win the doubles. roflmao

But yes, he doesn't seem to have had a very good year. He's in a bit of trouble now - having taken Sela to deuce on the previous service game, he's now 15-30 down on his own. He certainly does *not* want to go 1-3 down here in the fourth ...

:o cheeky! :whip:

Ok, he's gone and got broken ... now it looks like he's about to break back, 0-40.

It would be a lot easier if he could break Sela *without* having been broken himself first, wouldn't it? :P

Back on serve, 3-2. We're back to where we were --- Massu not wanting to be broken. :)

yeah, but where would be the fun in that??? :P

how long has this game been going on now???

Not sure. But definitely over four hours from what I can tell. The thing is, with Sela serving first, Massu wouldn't be able to break back if he gets broken at the business end of the set ... so he should really try and break first for a change ...

Anyway, he holds for 3-3. :phew:

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 04:05 PM (GMT)
And Sela likewise holds for 4-3. Now this is where the pressure starts to build up for Massu.

And he promptly finds himself two break points down. :yikes:

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 04:21 PM (GMT)
This game is still going on! Massu unable to hold, but Sela unable to break. Another game point for Massu ... and back to deuce.

Dinky Jo - September 20, 2007 04:22 PM (GMT)
Gonzo must be getting impatient......

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 04:24 PM (GMT)
What a hold from Massu! He had to fight for it, though. 4-4.

Even though each has played 4 service games in this set, Sela only had 25 serves, to Massu's 43! :o That shows you how tough it's been for him to hold serve.

Have you recovered from Dark's somewhat disturbing fart-obsession yet?

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 04:28 PM (GMT)
Not surprisingly after that exertion, it looks like Massu doesn't seem to have a lot left in the tank in the next service game, and Sela goes 40-0 up.

But now it's 40-15 ... 40-30 ...

mightyjeditribble - September 20, 2007 04:32 PM (GMT)
Sela holds for 5-4, and the pressure is just mounting.

Massu really needs a quick service game here. But instead, he loses the first point on his serve. Sela three points from the match.
