Some news on the Brits in action here....
Naomi Cavaday made it through qualifying to the main draw but fell in a tough encounter in the first round proper to fellow qualifier Ekaterina Ivanova :(
Anne Keothavong has beaten Sara Errani (who did so well last week in Bali) 6-4, 6-4 and will face WC Suntiha Rao in the second round   GO ANNE :yahoo: :yahoo:
Sarah Borwell sadly fell in the final round of qualies to Domachowska (who she so memorably beat at Wimbey in 2006).
In other news....Marion "I cannot where turtle necks as I have no neck" Bartoli has been dumped out in the first round by Vania King :yahoo:
And Makiri is still going strong :)

That's a bit of a big ask considering Golovin is in Slovenia this week, whilst said title is being contested held in India. :P
Nice run for Keothavong (apparently the first Brit woman into a WTA semi since Jo Durie in the early 90s - I had no idea it has been as bad as that!), although I had fancied her chances against the unknown Koryttseva, who is now into the doubles final as well. Kirilenko's revival of form continues with a three-set win over Hantuchova. You'd think she's the favourite for the title now but Koryttseva seems to be having an out-of-nowhere hot streak à la Shvedova earlier this year (also in another Indian tournament in Bangalore), and will probably vanish back into the throng like the young Russian has since.

:( I do hope Daniela is Okay ...she hasn't played the second half of the season well at all.... much like Hingis... but even missed bigger opportunities to make this year a memorable one....
