Sadly British number 1 Katie O'Brien fell in the final round of qualifying, though she has managed to team up with Kachlikova and they have reached the second round of dubs.

The main draw QF:

Golovin (1) or Knapp vs Vriljic or Tu (9)
Zvonareva (5) vs Dushevina (8)
Loit (6) or Vierin vs Shaughnessy or Srebotnik (4)
Dulko (7) or Vesnina vs Bammer (2)

Looks like Tati is about to make the QF as she is a set and a break up against Knapp.

I'm looking forward to the battle of the Vera's. I think Zvonareva, Srebotnik and Bammer and the main contenders for this title. Tati is just too prone at choking to be a contender imo.

I was hoping to see Zvonareva come through with a badly-needed win after missing so much of the season, but she fell in a tight third-set tiebreaker loss to Dushevina. Golovin was the beneficiary and is into the final, her first since winning in Amelia Island.

Srebotnik, the home favourite, will probably take it in three sets though. She seems to be playing well again this week, is motivated on her turf, and Golovin can be a streaky player (especially in finals!). But really I can see either woman take it.

Nice win for Dulko over Bammer, incidentally. Didn't expect that one, although I know she played her very close (match points and all) in the Pattaya City final this year when Bammer was on the verge of staging her breakout season.

Tati has won another title.
