Title: US Open Final Federer V Djokovic
trisco - September 9, 2007 05:51 PM (GMT)
:yahoo: Here's to hopefully a great final with both players at the top of their game.
I don't think Fed's game has been up to his usual high standards throughout the tournament but he did step up a gear against Roddick.
Djokovic has stumbled a few times but i think Stepanek was playing pretty inspired stuff in that match.
I hope Djokovic has recovered from yesterday as he seemed to be quite fatigued...
here's to a great match,
BTW, if anyone comes across a stream, pop it in here if you could do.
Cheers guys
:D

Should manage to watch this one, unlike Roddick-Fed match which was in early hours.I'm not anticipating a walkover by Fed,but hope he can win in 4 by stepping up his game on important points.Should be a great match :D
Federer-Williams - September 9, 2007 06:16 PM (GMT)
I Hope for a thriller but as always I hope and predict for a Federer win.
Federer is going to play better on big points than at Montreal and I wanna see Djokovic react.
I belevie he will someday be Feds succesor he has the mindset to beat Fed but is his game tehre yet hmm?

Agreed. :ok:
I'm really not sure about this one. Part of me is a bit worried for Fed ... on the other hand, he could (and maybe should) have won in Montreal, and this one is over five sets ...
Still I wouldn't be surprised if the Djoker was to nick a set here.

Just spent the last half hour arguing with Sky...
Specifically got Sky Sports Xtra for the tennis and was assured it will have EVERY match on, went to set a reminder for the final and they have moved it to Sky Sports 1  buggers.
Half an hour of arguing and I get Sky Sports 1 free. :yahoo:
Sure these companies mis sell and don't give a toss.
Ah well at least I can still watch the match.

Well done. :ok:
Not sure if I'll be able to watch it at all. :(

Not sure I agree, Trisco. Didn't you see the match against Lopez? That was incredible. Fed took 35 points in succession in his own serve, which is apparently virtually unheard of. He was playing his most elegant, fluid tennis, with brilliant shots. I'm glad I recorded it... In my opinion, it was better than the match against Roddick (but when it comes down to it, I know bugger all about the finer points of tennis, so my opinion is not worth much :D )
scolios - September 9, 2007 06:46 PM (GMT)
Trisco, fantastic, getting Sky to give you Sky Sports whatever free - for the evening only, I assume. You must have a very persuasive tongue! :ok:
SaraLess - September 9, 2007 06:55 PM (GMT)
I've been posting some misgivings about Fed - I do think he's got to serve brilliantly tonight, and the brilliance of Djokos groundstrokes is of grave concern to Fed worshippers everywhere.
Still, it's bound to be an excellent final - hopefully Federer will prove me wrong. Ready to assume the :peek: position!

Im not sure I can watch this at all if its close! :phew:
In the Wimbledon final, I was having serious palpitations in the fifth set .
Not good for you. :argh:
It starts at 21.30 BST
Gav - September 9, 2007 07:23 PM (GMT)
Fed is hot favourites and I think he will win in 4 sets. I am a Fed fan and love his game but.....
.......I am going to be cheering for Djoko to breakthrough and grab his first slam.... it would be a nice change and for the first time in a long time we will have a slam holder whose first name doesn't beging with "R" unless there is a silent "R" I don't know about...
 GO DJOKO
scolios - September 9, 2007 07:49 PM (GMT)
Gav, you're lucky - you'll be happy whoever wins.
Some of us on here will be GUTTED if Fed loses :(
Anyway, let's hope it's a great game :ok:
ElHuegi - September 9, 2007 07:51 PM (GMT)
Hi guys. Although Federer hasn't been performing at his best, I have faith in his ability to step up to the occasion. Therefore I predict a four set win for Federer with a scoreline in the area of 7:6, 3:6, 7:6, 6:1.

To be honest scolios I will be gutted with a straight sets win for Roger or Djoko.
Give me a juicy 5 settter please lads!!! Then whoever wins will be fine. :ok:

agreed - a 5 setter would be exactly what i want :ok:
i'd prefer a Fed win, but in the end if Djoko wins i won't be too upset. i think he's done really well for himself, and he's one person who has kind of emerged since i started following tennis seriously and it's been great to watch him slowly rise up the rankings and develop in to the player he is now.
In the end, it's his first slam final and i just hope he does himself justice :)

Its just a pity my two favourite players have to play each other. Theres got to be a loser, but if Fed loses Ill still be gutted, but not as much as otherwise.
mightyjeditribble - September 9, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
I'd actually prefer it wasn't a five-setter (provided Fed wins, of course ...). It might be too much for my nerves.
mightyjeditribble - September 9, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
By the way, did you see Novak's Federer impression? It's at the end of this clip:

 I have to go pick up my mum from the airport and take her home..... :( someone please keep my seat warm.....
I actually think I might be a quick one for either player...just a feeling
...Why must FEd play Djoko... why not Nalbadian or someone else...
probably need me a glass of something...

anyone got a live feed for the match?
Big Al - September 9, 2007 08:43 PM (GMT)
The Beeb are doing live audio commentary but Im not sure how much of Pat Cash I can listen to... Jonathan Overend is one of the other commentators .
scolios - September 9, 2007 08:49 PM (GMT)
I'm watching it on Eurosport :yahoo: - if I dare....

Federer serving well already ...2-1
mightyjeditribble - September 9, 2007 08:59 PM (GMT)
I can't believe I can't watch this online. I payed for the bloody tournament on eurosport, but all I get is "livestream starting soon". It's all become a big pile of sh*t since they teamed up with yahoo. Their online GS package used to be really good.

Can't any of you get it on TV - on Eurosport? We can here in mainland Europe :D
Gav - September 9, 2007 09:08 PM (GMT)
Eurosport is a pay channel in the UK scolios (at least I think it is).
It's 3-3 in the first set with Feds to serve....

Oh, that's obviously why the EuroSport online thing doesn't work. It said before that you wouldn't get the multiple streams if you're in the UK, only the eurosport UK feed ... but I assumed that would at least include the bloody finals. Should've done my homework obviously.
And after two sets, the bloody chinese channel goes out on me again. :badpc:

It's not a link --- it's just on TVUPlayer. And it's stopped working again. :(
But the two games I saw looked like Djoko and Fed were both serving well. I thought that Djoko might have looked a bit stronger from the baseliner (though it's hard to tell from a few points), so I hope Fed keeps playing his attacking tennis.
Dinky Jo - September 9, 2007 09:18 PM (GMT)
did it show the semis yesterday, 'cos that was on sky in the Uk rather than eurosport? I think sky have got the pick of the matches and eurosport gets what's left over or something  i know i checked earlier and eurosport isn't showing the match - it's showing highlights later.
is anyone actually managing to watch this then?
