Wise_Analyst - September 7, 2007 01:32 PM (GMT)
Afternoon bitches - SB's taking a well deserved break from number crunching and asked her handsome assistant to take care of things. Unfortunately though, Goran was unavailable and you're stuck with me. Here are yesterday's results:

Women's Doubles - Semis

A Szavay (HUN)/V Uhlirova (CZE)[14] v. Y-Jan Chan/C-J Chuang (TPE)[5] 0-2
K Peschke(CZE)/R Stubbs(AUS)[6] v. N Dechy(FRA)[7]/D Safina(RUS)[7] 0-2

Women's Champions - 1st Rnd.

Martina Navratilova (USA) v. Jana Novotna (CZE) 2-1
Conchita Martinez (ESP) v. Iva Majoli (BUL) 2-0

Men's Singles - Qtr. Finals

Carlos Moya (ESP)[17] v. Novak Djokovic (SRB)[3] 0-3
Juan Ignacio Chela (ARG)[20] v. David Ferrer (ESP)[15] 0-3

Men's Champions - 1st Rnd. (BEST OF 3 SETS)

Henri Leconte (FRA) v. Todd Martin (USA) 0-2

Mixed Doubles - FINALS

V Azarenka/M Mirnyi (BLR) v. M Shaughnessy (USA)/L Paes (IND) 2-0

Mixed Champions - 1st Rnd.

A Smith/S Smith (USA) v. H Mandlikova (AUS)/I Nastase (ROM) 2-0

I shall be taking the unprecedented step of naming and shaming today's losers as well as heaping glory on the winners... if anyone has a problem with that, feel free to get a sense of humour. ;)

liam_valid - September 7, 2007 01:36 PM (GMT)

WOMEN'S:

We all did pretty well on the women's (with two shameful exceptions). Most people got 3 out of the 4 matches right - the one that stumped us all was the Dechy and Safina victory... it was widely expected that Stubbs and Peschke would edge that. Sam, Scolios and Jo all got the winners right, but only Pebs got the exact score  - unfortunately she choked like James Blake on some the other women's predictions which narrowly prevented her getting in the hall of fame.

WINNERS: Jo/Sam - 10
RUNNERS UP: MissSF/SB/Fah/Wise/OB - 9

...and today's losers, with a pitiful score of 3, liam and felix. :lmaao:

:yahoo: i didnt think i would get any points, 3 is good :)

scolios - September 7, 2007 01:49 PM (GMT)
Where are our scores? :o

Wise_Analyst - September 7, 2007 01:52 PM (GMT)
MEN'S:

The men's singles were a bit of a letdown, with everyone expecting closer matches. Everyone that is, except felix, who had plenty of confidence in Djoko and Ferrer and landed maximum points. Most people predicted the correct winners, but the scorelines eluded them. Nearly everyone got Martin to beat the older Leconte in straight sets.

WINNER: (out of 9) Felix - 9
RUNNERS UP: Sam/Viva/Liam - 7

Our two turkeys from the women's made up for their poor performances here.

LOSERS: Pebs/Scolios, with a miserable 2 points. :lmaao:

Wise_Analyst - September 7, 2007 01:58 PM (GMT)
Not much success with the two mixed matches - we all f*cked up on Nastase and Mandlikova losing to Smith and Smith - probably cos we'd never heard of them. Our lovely ladies Jo, scolios, Miss SF and Pebs all went for Mirnyi and Azarenka to win the mixed doubles final, but only Sam and Dark got the right set score.

Overall scores coming up...

well, he'd definitely win them all then wouldn't he???? :P

Wise_Analyst - September 7, 2007 02:09 PM (GMT)
Only one winner today, dominating proceedings like a peak Pete Sampras and storming to victory by a wide margin, despite the fierce opposition they faced from the lions and lionesses in this incredibly strong predicting era.

Sam - 20
MissSF/SB - 15
Jo/Fah/Wise/Viva - 14
OB/Dark/Felix - 12
scolios/Pebs - 11
liam - 10 :lmaao:

So hats off to Sam who won comprehensively. Commiserations to liam who is today's turkey - however, as you can see, apart from Sam we were all very close.

Thanks for taking part all... and don't worry, it'll be back to normal duty tomorrow with SB, and no mocking of the sorry losers. Laters.

You can have some of Pebs and Jo's points, after their disgraceful mocking of Sampras in the ATP Shirtless thread. I think 5 off each of them sounds fair, what do you think?
