that made interesting viewing - thanks TV.
Rafa has actually really come on in leaps and bounds with his English...it only really falters when he's really annoyed about something now (see interview post defeat at hands of Ferrer...his frown was also unbelievable!)

Lavers "his ability to pass from what seems like any place on the court" is so true...
And Collins "it's not speed, it's placement" on the Fed serve
Some Nadal quotes below...Rafa is such a genial, humble guy for such an amazing player.
"he's unbelievable, no?"
"his game is working very well without too much serve and volley"
"you have to improve always to be at a similar level"
"unbelievable serve, the best forehand ever I saw, a very complete backhand, he can change a lot, he's very fast on court...he has a good volley, well everything is very good so it is very difficult to be better than him"
Some Mac quotes
"he moves like Baryshnikov"
I do think Fed is also giving himself a good bit of worship!! ;) But he avoids the whole GOAT debate nicely.

Thanks for this TV.. watched this earlier this afternoon.. :ok:
Sara, yes, Rafa was very nice about the Fedster.. and yes, Fed was also not dampening any of this..
But you know, both Rafa and Fed are very nice to each other in general. Fed said earlier in the week that he'd bet his house on Rafa being in the final of the US open. Also, he spoke of being sad for Rafa having to fight injuries, and being knocked out. When Fed won the Oz Open in 2006, they apparently texted each other, and at Wimbledon last year whenever they bumped into each other they would always ask how each other was getting on in the tournament. As far as I can see they don't have a bad word to say about each other, and probably feel some sort of empathy with each other as they are both comfortably top of the tree, and therefore are targets in each half of their draw in all tournaments.
Johnny Mac and Connors, they are not.. ;)
But I like this, as they play hard and play to win on court and then they are so friendly off court. The way it should be. You don't need to be enemies off court in order to be fiercely competitive on court, and being friends doesn't mean that they pull any punches when they play each other.
As people, I like both Rafa and Roger immensely. Lovely guys. :)

ditto - I really like Rafa calling Fed "Rogelio"....can you imagine Mac and Connors giving each other the equivalent kind of nick name?!

Borg and McEnroe were like Rafa and Roger - but between McEnroe,Connors and Lendl there was no love lost at all and not much respect for their tennis either.
