I'd go for a Black/Huber win although they might be tested along the way!

Probably end up playing Sugi and Srebotnik in the final? Can't see Molik/Santangelo making inroads this week given they were in the final in LA yesterday (and got well and truly trounced by Pescke/Stubbs!)

Garrigues/Ruano Pascual could do well too.

SerenaW19 - August 13, 2007 03:57 PM (GMT)
Yep the final yesterday was over in 45 minutes :o

Id go for Black/Huber too, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone else won it.

So much for Medina Garrigues/Ruano Pascual doing well!

Russiafan - August 15, 2007 09:55 PM (GMT)
Dementieva and Pennetta withdrew from their second round match which is a shame - I'm guessing it's due to Elena's unfortunate loss in singles.

I had the privilege to see them play together in Paris last year and must say they make a pretty good team, so it's a shame to see them withdraw.

Yep, still got a problem with a rib injury. She actually announced today that she won't play the Open.

oh that's too bad. I was never a massive fan of that pairing but it must be frustrating for Sun to not be able to play with her regular partner....though I guess it gives her a chance to see if their is a better combination out there as have Sun/Li had much success since the Athens Olympics?

Was surprised that Ruano Pascual and Medina Garrigues didn't do better. Anyone know why Pascual split with Suarez? Is it cos of the Olympics? I thought those two were inseparable!

Yes it's for the Olympics - though they don't seem to be having much success!

Pascual was asked if she'd reteam with Suarez after the Olympics but she said they'd both be retiring. Suarez has barely played this year - I suppose the injuries are still a problem.

Yeah Suarez did say she was going to retire at the end of 2006, but carried on. Shame she's so injured and low in the rankings nowadays, as she was top 10 just 3 years ago :(

Thanks for the info, it was bugging me!

I saw Suarez play with Garbin against Petrova and Kuznetsova at Wimbledon which they lost. It was a good match but I just felt that she'd lost her edge

I can't believe that they'll retire without winning Wimbledon :( So many finals, so many chances!
