Less of the big names playing doubles this week, but still a few.

Nadal/Gasquet have teamed up

Murray/Bhupathi are drawn to meet the Bryans in the second round

Butorac is playing with Sam Querry - they've got a wild card in to the draw

and Djokovic is playing with fellow Serb Zimonijc

Gonzo and Ljubicic are teaming up again as well.

MissSospanFach - August 13, 2007 10:50 AM (GMT)
Thanks for that. Looks like a few there should be a few interesting games.

Hopefully Bhupathi's good run will continue with Murray. I don't think they should be daunted by the Bryans as a second round match. Although the twins have dominated the last few years they still lose quite a few matches.

Nice to see Nadal and Djoko in the doubles draw again

MissS - you're a star! Thanks for posting results - i'm not being very organised this week

am glad Tursunov won, and the Serbian pair of Djoko/Zimonijc are doing well :ok:

MissSospanFach - August 15, 2007 11:44 AM (GMT)
No worries, like said, any distraction from dissertation writing is a welcome one! :)

Hopefully Murray the elder will do better than his brother today!

Dinky Jo - August 15, 2007 11:46 AM (GMT)

hopefully murray will do better than his former partner as well

Ah, what kind of dissertation are you writing? And in what subject?

Looks like Jamie is off to a good start; they've just won the first set, and are up an early break in the second :ok:

mightyjeditribble - August 15, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
Back on serve, sadly ... 2-3 ... Come on, Jamie!

mightyjeditribble - August 15, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
Good god. They had 13 (!) break points this match, and only converted 2 ...

mightyjeditribble - August 15, 2007 10:49 PM (GMT)
Looks like it's heading for another tie-break.

Considering that Murray/Bhupathi held 13 break points, and their opponents only 3, one would have thought that the match should be over by now ...

mightyjeditribble - August 15, 2007 10:54 PM (GMT)
They're up a mini-break though

Back on serve in the tie-break again

4-4.

mightyjeditribble - August 15, 2007 10:56 PM (GMT)
Oh no! Now Murray/Bhupathi are a mini-break down, and face set point! :yikes:

mightyjeditribble - August 15, 2007 10:58 PM (GMT)
And there goes the second set. :(

No-one following this? Admittedly, it's already quite late ...

mightyjeditribble - August 15, 2007 11:08 PM (GMT)
For anyone's information who's still up - they took the sorry excuse for a third set 10-3. :yahoo: :bigwave:

Dinky Jo - August 16, 2007 06:36 AM (GMT)
:bigwave: woooo!!!!!

MissSospanFach - August 16, 2007 08:38 AM (GMT)

I agree. Bhupati is a very experienced quality player, look at last week - he won with Vizner. The Bryans are not invincible at all Not so sure that Jamie shoudl have split form Booty though - I thought they made a good pair and were growing together into a good team.

MissSospanFach - August 16, 2007 04:21 PM (GMT)
Hopefully they'll do well against the Bryans (although I have predicted a 2-0 loss lol  ).

Think when we look back the split with Booty will have been a wise one. Still not sure if they are playing together at the US though...

MissSospanFach - August 16, 2007 08:06 PM (GMT)
Well well well. The itches beat Bjorkman and Mirnyi 10-7 in the Champions Tie Break. They're another pair who haven't been in form of late!

Dinky Jo - August 16, 2007 08:12 PM (GMT)
the itches!!! :lmaao: :lmaao: :lmaao:

Yep, straight sets. I guess the Bryans were determined not to lose the Bhupathi after last weeks final!

[3] M Knowles (BAH) / D Nestor (CAN) d M Fyrstenberg (POL) / M Matkowski (POL) 76(10) 64

[1] B Bryan (USA) / M Bryan (USA) d M Bhupathi (IND) / J Murray (GBR) 6-3 6-2.

MissSospanFach - August 17, 2007 03:12 PM (GMT)
Early start for the doubles today- Dlouhy/Vizner are currently playing Knowles/Nestor. The 7th seeds are currently a set up against the 3rd seeds.

Erlich/Ram vs The Itches could be unpredictable.

Damm/Paes vs Hanley/Ullyett is always a good match to watch.

Bryans should overcome Aspelin and Knowle but in this heat, you never know!

Dinky Jo - August 17, 2007 03:20 PM (GMT)
this not having deuce is really really annoying :banghead: you just lose those epic games :(

MissSospanFach - August 17, 2007 03:25 PM (GMT)
I know it's ridiculous.

The Itches haven't turned up today- two breaks of serve to Erlich and Ram after only 8 minutes!

Dinky Jo - August 17, 2007 03:27 PM (GMT)
honestly, you get the feeling that eventually doubles will turn in to trhe players flipping a coin to decide who wins

MissSospanFach - August 17, 2007 03:29 PM (GMT)
Goodness me, call myself a doubles fan? I predicted a win for Knowles and Nestor who have just lost 6-4 7-5 and a win in three for the Itches who are losing the first set 4-0!

Dinky Jo - August 17, 2007 03:32 PM (GMT)
but do you think that perhaps the new rules have made it more unpredictable? maybe that's a good thing??? (except for our predictions of course  )

MissSospanFach - August 17, 2007 04:00 PM (GMT)
It's nice to have unpredictable matches and it does mix things up but on the other hand the tb is as much, if not more, to do with luck as it is with skill. I know that applies to all sport at times but still, BRING BACK THE THIRD SET!

Not a disaster against the Bryans, though. Apparently he's down to play New Haven, but doesn't have a partner yet. :o

To be honest, I can live with the deciding tie-break (at least outside of grand slams). I'm not a big fan yet, but I think I can get used to it.

This business of having no deuce on the other hand ...

BRING BACK DEUCE!

Russiafan - August 17, 2007 04:25 PM (GMT)
Personally i can deal with the Final set tie breaker thing-y mahjig. What I HATE with a real passion is the no advantage thing!!! I mean WHY?!
