BIG-TODGER - August 7, 2007 11:54 AM (GMT)
It is very quiet on here these days, i don't think the new format of this site has helped-it's a bit over complicated and hard to see where the main discussions are at a glance. I know the layout has been running for sometime (not sure exactly how long) but i've never really found it as user friendly as it might be.

I know what you mean. Why not mention ti to trisco? He was aking for opinions on the layout and things recently. :)

Hey BT. SB is right, Trisco was asking people what sort of format they preferred - what do you think would work better? Any ideas welcome as we want to make sure the board is as the posters want it :D

Dinky Jo - August 7, 2007 12:26 PM (GMT)
Just to add to this, if you click on My Assistant you can see new topics and replies to your topics since your last visit. You can also see a list of the threads that have been active that day.

9mmSuzi - August 7, 2007 01:33 PM (GMT)
:) Oh I just wanted to mention this... if perhaps the theme of the site is also changed a bit faster after the major Tournies to reflect a more general Centre Court theme......

Some one who for example wants to join C.C might mistake it for a purely wimbledon site from the look.. So to be more pro active a faster theme change would be appropriate :) just a thought..

dl04 - August 7, 2007 02:09 PM (GMT)
It has been quiet hasnt it?

To be fair, it's partly my fault as i havent been on very much

trisco - August 7, 2007 02:41 PM (GMT)
It'll be picking up again soon DL don't worry. ;)

Ur right Suze re the theme, I am gonna hold out though as I will be bringing it all in line with the fanzine once done in a few weeks. One standard theme and not too much chopping and changing after Grand Slams etc. :ok:

trisco - August 7, 2007 02:44 PM (GMT)
I do have to jump to our defense here though and say I have seen a reasonable drop for other forums too. Not quite sure why?
Is there an internet revolution happening somewhere that we just don't know about?

I have a theory but nto sur eif it is right. It is based on a few assumptions, so go and disprove it! :D

Boards liek this oen and KoC were set up after a huge forum declined. A load of people were drawn together from a past board, and posted toether for a whioe. then soem drifted off, got bored or whatever, but getting new blood is really tricky becuase unlike the BBC this is not easy to find nor is it big enough to attract masses of folks.

Pebs - August 7, 2007 03:13 PM (GMT)
The BBC theory is a good one SB - because that must get lots of passing trade as they have links to their boards in their general sports stuff...

the other thing is - and this may sound daft, but however much we moan about trolls and did lots of it back in the old beeb days, lots of people did enjoy proving what eejits the trolls were - look at the old beeb threads being dragged up - going to battle with SF used to be a daily thrill for some - and Dav and Sidney... I havent got to those yet but when I do.... I am sure we will fall about laughing! These types of boards dont have trolls on as a rule so the kind of threads that make us giggle then, dont occur now.

Wow surprised how popular this random thread of mine has been roflmao

I think with the design of the site, well, maybe, just maybe, less is more?

The beeb worked well at peak because it was so boring to look at and people had to look and dig for interesting threads. The fact it's so orderly has probably taken some spark away if i'm brutally honest. Also the design on the beeb was so boring that it forced people to use their imagination more (I certainly did, especially with what I could have done to Maria in 100 million song lyrics roflmao )!

Well yes that is true :) I think the board is very well organised and presented, but my problem is so many threads in sub forums and sub threads if you know what I mean. If i am to be brutally honest it is rather like having to search through files for that document you knwo is there somewhere, and that makes it feel less immediate. I did liek the fact that on the BBC you just had the threads up and you coudl see what was hto right away. A thread being near the top made people read it and post on it. The downside was though that there was no organisation and threads coudl just fade away. I also fidn myself forgettgin what threads I posted on here and then discovering them 2 weeks later, folk must think me ignorant for not replying! roflmao I knwo folk say use My Assistant but it doesn't really work for me and I stay logged on even if I am not on so I don't get a proper update. Oh and I keep findign threads i never knew existed when ti si too late. I seem to miss the 'live' convos then if you knwo waht I mean.

Btw this is no criticsm of the marvellous orgainsations kills of Trisco - please don\t think that. You do a fabulous job  I don't knwo the answer either, I'm just saying what I think. I do find ti a bit mor eof a reader and bowser's board, rather than a chatter's \immediate" board but then we are all different. :)
