Hmm, I wonder how bad Nadal's left arm was?! This is the trouble when top players do decide to play doubles- if they've already played a long singles match or feel a tweak the doubles, rightly or wrongly, is the first thing to get the boot!

Looks like Fed and Allegro gave the Bryans a run for their money!

Dinky Jo - August 10, 2007 09:09 AM (GMT)
was it really a surprise though???

I suspect if Federer had won in the doubles he'd have suddenly gained an injury in time for the next round. Like you said, they just don't want to risk it....... :(

MissSospanFach - August 10, 2007 09:15 AM (GMT)
Lol, no, not a surprise just an annoyance! It's not really fair on the full-time doubles players but then if we want singles players to play and raise the profile of the game we can't have it all...

Dinky Jo - August 10, 2007 10:53 AM (GMT)
well, i think the tournament organisers were thrilled when they realised the Bryans would be playing Fed - gave them great publicity - good for the image of doubles :ok:

I totally agree! Nice to see the best doubles players and best singles player playing on the same court! :ok:

I just meant that some of the full time doubles players who lose to the singles players who then pull out must get annoyed sometimes!

oh, yeah, sorry - wasn't disagreeing with you...it must be dead annoying for the doubles specialists when that happens.

MissSospanFach - August 10, 2007 08:49 PM (GMT)
So Hanley/Ullyett beat Knowles/Nestor 7-6 6-4. I'm guessing this will defo probably spell the end of the pairing after the Open.

Petition for Knowles to partner Murray the elder, or at least give it a try!

MissSospanFach - August 11, 2007 04:49 PM (GMT)
