Title: Vote for your 10 favourite current players!

MrInvisible - July 30, 2007 12:34 PM (GMT)
OK, this sort of thing is normally The Dav's territory (indeed he did a similar sort of thing on the old BBC website). But, the board is in a bit of a post-slam summer holiday lull at moment, so thought I'd try and generate a bit of interest and maybe even some controversy.

So, you have until I dunno (end of August? 2 weeks time?) to vote for your 10 favourite players on ATP tour, and 10 favourite players on WTA tour. I don't even know if I'll get round to sorting out the all-time faves from your voting, but lets do 10 points for each time a player gains 1st place, 9 points for each time a player gains 2nd place, etc, all way down to 1 point for each time a player gains 10th place.

RULES: You can only vote once, players must be *current* - retired players/senior tour and junior players not allowed. ' Doubles specialists' allowed.

MrInvisible - July 30, 2007 12:41 PM (GMT)
Here's mine...

ATP

1. Roger Federer
2. Gustavo Kuerten (not strictly retired, but will do soon probably!)
3. Richard Gasquet
4. Fabrice Santoro
5. Nicholas Mahut
6. Tim Henman
7. Andy Murray
8. Mario Ancic
9. Novak Djokovic
10. David Nalbandian

WTA

1. Amelie Mauresmo
2. Justine Henin
3. Martina Hingis
4. Svetlana Kuznetsova
5. Ana Ivanovic
6. Elena Dementieva
7. Venus Williams
8. Jelena Jankovic
9. Serena Williams
10. Ai Sugiyama

Some of my inclusions, and omissions, will no doubt lead to a little bit of controversy!

SuperBRAT - July 30, 2007 01:00 PM (GMT)
Great choices Mr I. You men are pretty much my choices I think, except Nalby (booo!!!) and not really into Gugga.

Top 4 women are an excellent pick. :ok:

MrInvisible - July 30, 2007 01:04 PM (GMT)
Well, Nalbandian only just made the cut there, and if his current dismal form continues then he'll drop out and get replaced by someone else. Kuerten is there for past glories only, although surely he will retire soon as injury got the better of him.

Will be interesting to see what everyone else's votes are...
