Title: Legg Mason Info

timmadigan - July 28, 2007 10:58 PM (GMT)
The Legg Mason tennis classic, part of the US Open Series, starts Sunday (well, Saturday if you count the qualifiers)

Topping the tourney is Andy Rodick, seeded #1, while Hass, Safin & Clement round out the rest of the top 4 seeds.

Pebs, Mo's and most of the British ladies' boy, Mr Henman, is playing but didn't get seeded (sorry, but he opens against a wildcard) and is in the quadrent with Hass (Benjamin Becker is his potentially first seeded match).

It looks to be a good tourney but, of course, I'm traveling away from the area all next week so, again, I get to miss tennis :(

MissSospanFach - July 29, 2007 02:53 PM (GMT)
Yep, it should be good! Hopefull Andy Roddick will be able to shrug off his bad form, although when his serve starts going wrong (i.e. vs Dancevic in Indy) then there really is something wrong!

(Go Tim ;))

Tennis_Mad_Andy - July 30, 2007 01:46 AM (GMT)
Tim is playing doubles with Bhupathi :o :D

MissSospanFach - July 30, 2007 09:17 AM (GMT)
Wow, how cool. Hopefully they'll do well! I always wished Tim played more doubles.

Mo aka Mz O'Hara - July 30, 2007 10:33 AM (GMT)
Great, can't wait till tim hits court on Tuesday, it seems such an age since us fans saw him play. The draw is looking reasonably good so fingers and toes crossed for a good run of form. :chesire:

*wonders if Roddick is still recovering from his big loss at Wimbledon*

Tim is playing doubles later at 7pm Washington time which is around midnight uk time. I'll be staying up for it ;)

Flame - July 30, 2007 07:55 PM (GMT)
on paper you'd think those two would be serious contenders for the doubles title.

i won't be watching tonight thougH as i have an enormous bet on one of the matches and can't bear to watch.

HENNERS RETURNS AND RULES!! :)

Gambling strikes again for Flame :P You are a very gutsy man, putting enourmous bets on any tennis match is a risk!

MissSospanFach - July 31, 2007 08:39 AM (GMT)
Yay, well done Tim and Mahesh Bhupathi- 6-2 7-5 against Hyung-Taik Lee and Michael Russell. I'm expecting them to have to play Hanley and Ullyett in the next round- much tougher but should be an excellent match!

Sadly Stretch and Booty didn't fare as well, they're not having a good hardcourt season yet!

No big surprises on the singles front so far...

Safin, bless him, could lose to a 1-legged kangeroo (with a tennis racquet of course) on a bad day

but....I'm hoping that the couple of wins he got at Wimby will have helped his confidence issues and he will go on to have a good US series

fingers AND toes crossed......

Yep, Isner's still in ... Monfils is his latest victim.

He beat Henman, Becker, Haas and Monfis (as well as someone else in round 3, can't be bothered to check now); all in third set tiebreaks :o

So it's Roddick v Isner in the final. Wonder what the odds were on that in the beginning of the tourney?
