Title: You & Your Instument

Heninator - July 27, 2007 10:15 PM (GMT)
So do you play and instrument? Tell us all about it in her - discuss the pros/cons and such B)

I play the guitar :D Got myself a new electro acoustic a couple of christmas' back and im just loving it! its a Tanglewood - TFC - quite compact but I like it so :D

Im not a serious player really wrote a few songs and if im brave enough one day I may even put it up here for you

Dinky Jo - July 31, 2007 03:47 PM (GMT)
well, I do/did, but it's nowhere cool as the guitar i'm afraid.

I played the french horn through most of school and university, although i must admit i haven't picked it up in years. I did enjoy playing it, but it was mostly playing in various orchestras and stuff that i loved (mainly 'cos involved a huge amount of alcohol as well :ok: )

I also played the piano, which is possibly one of the most amazing stress-relievers ever. Was never as good on the piano as i was on the french horn, but I can still sit down and play a few pieces on the piano - i still find it very relaxing......

you have to master circular breathing too, so you're breathing in through your nose out and through your mouth to maintain the sound

Dinky Jo - August 2, 2007 09:49 PM (GMT)
someone in australia told me that if you can master that you can beat breathalyzer tests.......although i've since been told by someone else that it's not true.

i tried to get the whole circular breathing thing when playing the french horn, but it just didn't happen...... :(

dl04 - August 2, 2007 09:54 PM (GMT)

Many Aborigines could do this, and i think snake charmers to-apparently it takes absolutely ages.
I've never heard of the breathalyser thing before though-interesting.

Yeah, piano is defo the best stress reliever. I play as often as I can. Also play the clarinet and sax and sometimes attempt the guitar!

When I saw this title, I thought Sam is definitely on about the oboe again roflmao

Anyway, I play the Piano, Violin and Alto Saxophone. I haven't played my sax for ages, but Im gonna try and have a jam on the weekend :D

I belong to my uni Jazz Band so tend to play it alot there :) I love the violin, and tend to play the piano more for recreation. :)

that's quite a range of instruments!

I still enjoy playing the piano when i get a chance, but i found that it was quite difficult to motivate myself to pick up my french horn and play it - i was much more motivated when i played in various bands and orchestras - now it's just too much like hard work :( i'll probably regret it some day.......

Yeah the Piano is great, very theraputic to play, a nice hobby to have.

I know what you mean about not playing as much, I wish I had more time to play my violin really, I think Im going to try and keep it up though. :)
