Title: Reason for my absence

Sam - July 25, 2007 09:27 PM (GMT)
Hi everybody on here.

As you may have noticed i´ve not been on the last few weeks. In short, this is because, on 4th July at about 1am, I lost my wonderful mother. I was at her side at the time, and there was absolutely nothign anybody could have done to save her.

I am currently in tenerife on a much needed holiday, I will come on again, but please understand that this is both a very difficult and busy time for me at the moment.

Sam :)

Sam, I had wondered if you had suffered a tragic loss as you hadn't been around and had mentioned previously that your Mum had been ill.

My heart goes out to you, we haven't seen eye to eye mate, but I really feel for your loss.

Really Truly Sorry for you Sam

I hope that you have the best of memories of that special lady

I was a bit worried that I'd not seen you for ages. I did wonder, I was thinking I better get round to PMing you but I didn't want to poke my nose in at what might be a bad time. I hadn't forgotten you anyway

I'm very sorry to hear about your mum, I truly am. :( it will take you time to get over it Sam, and you take your time. If you need me you know where I am. :) I do hope you find your holiday relaxing and enjoyable in spite of all this and you take care and come back and join us when you feel ready. Let me know how you are doing, and you take care of yourself now. :kiss2: It's been quiet without you. Best fo luck Sam. :ok:

Sam :( Sorry to hear it, hope you can enjoy tenerife, but probably not much considering the circumstances, take care, thoughts are with you

Mo aka Mz O'Hara - July 27, 2007 02:11 PM (GMT)
oh Sam.  I was shocked to hear your sad news. My sincere condolences. As you prob recall I lots my real parents some time ago, and know exactly what you must be going through. I do hope the holiday helps ease your pain a little at least. I also went on holiday abroad 4 weeks after my dad passed away when I was 20 and I can honestly say it did help getting away from familiar surroundings for a while, and certainly renewed my strengh to cope with matters when I got home. I am sure you will find family and good friends a great comfort to you at this difficult time. My one main tip would be to keep as busy as you can in these initial first weeks.

Love and  to you.

Thank you all for your kind words :)

I am ok, my holiday has really done me a heck of a lot of good, Mo was right about trying to keep busy, it certainly has been the case with me.

The hardest part about all of this has been telling people - it is incredibly hard to tell people who don´t know this news, especially as a few days before she died we thought she just had a treatable infection and she was chirpy as anything.

You may find this incredibly hard to believe, but in my mums last couple of days in intensive care, she was telling me that I should go because I had tennis arrangements! I can´t begin to tell you how much she cared for other people, ahead of her own needs most of the time.

On the Wednesday evening, barely 18 hours after she´d passed away, I played a tennis match for my clubs team. Obviously I told no-one, but I had to do it for her, she would have wanted me to i´m sure. I won all my matches, but they were the hardest matches I will ever play in my life simply because I was so overcome with emotion that I could barely breathe, and of course my eyes were constantly wet.

Me and my dad, having made all of the funeral arrangements, also went to wimbledon on the friday. Why not, we said, and again i´m sure she´d have said we should go! We were on court 1, on cheap tickets (It should have been doubles), and saw two magnificent five-setters (Djokovic beating Baghdatis and Roddick losing to Gasquet in the match of the tournament!). 9 hours of uninterrupted sunshine in one of the wettest wimbledons in memory! Mum sorted it for us i´m sure! :)

Anyway, i´ll be back in the UK in 12 hrs, I may talk more then, though I am playing the leicestershire county tournament this week!

thanks

sam :)

I have only just read this, I am so so sorry. I can not begin to imagine how it feels to lose a parent, especially so young but I offer all my thoughts and best wishes. This is terrible news. You sound like you are being incredibly strong, she would be so proud of you.
I am glad that you can seek comfort in your tennis and you were able to enjoy Wimbledon.
Take care. All the best to you and your family.

Gasquet, he was unbelievable - he really did look like Federer the way he took control of Roddick!

His backhand, when it's working, is probably better even than Henin's!

Shut them yanks up anyway roflmao (no offence to any on here, they really were tossers in there! :))

I sincerely am sorry about your loss, Sam. Losing a mother is a painful ordeal in life.
BTW, is it the one who told you to get off the computer whilst the very first Poscars ceremony?
