Title: Wimbledon Predictions Contest
Description: Champion's Presentation Ceremony

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 05:25 PM (GMT)
Okay then, the results are announced. Must apologise for not doing it sooner, but the aftershow party took it's toll ;) I've got one of these to give out, :gchampion: plus this :gwin: and a few other things. I'll announce the results in reverse ord rin a vain attempt to create suspense! :D

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 05:34 PM (GMT)
Ok then, these two players did not play every time. I hear the former was too busy with this  and received a code violation for being drunk in charge of a racquet, the other set the fashion scene alight with his Fred Perry era vintage white chaps! :D He was also very busy with a certain Mr Djokovic and fatigue proved costly. ;) Good scores though guys, but I want 100% application from you pair next year or it's quallies for you and no Wild Cards. :D

Give it up for

Trisco 204 points

Big Serving Big Al 202 points

I'll present you with a few of these as I know you'll be most grateful

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 05:41 PM (GMT)
Now for the league table, for those who predicted every day or close to.

In 13th place:

A dedicated predictions contest veteran, our own in house pundit and a bookie's favourite but for all the wrong reasons. :D He finished high in last year's Wimbledon and was considered by many to be the possible dark horse of the tourny but turned out to be more of knackers yard horse in the end! :D His high risk game cost him dear, but his Henmanesque volleys an spectacular drop shots delighted the crowd. I am sure he'll be back next year as a major contender. Give it up for

Mr Invisible - 300 points

The prize - Special Vintage :spam: from the Wimbledon canteen, a real collector's item. Sorry but that Spam was just asking to be given out. :D

Dinky Jo - July 9, 2007 05:46 PM (GMT)
poor Mr I - obviously concentrated more on betting and on his own predictions contact

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 05:48 PM (GMT)
In 12th place

Respendent in his vintage jacket, and admired for his gentlemanly conduct on court, it's our own Roger Federer in the making :D - he could not match Fed's success on the grass this year, he found some nice angles nonetheless with that backhand. A missed match cost him a higher score, but he was desperate to get the grass stains off that jacket at the dry cleaners so w eunderstand. If he comes good next year, watch out everyone. :D

Give it up for

Petalp 304 points!

Let's give him some nice sunglasses to top off that outfit. :flirt:

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 05:58 PM (GMT)
11 th place

In 11th we have a lady who really picked up the pace in the second week, despite a slow start, powering her way back into contention with that Safinesque double handedbackhand (although I hear that she'd much rather be on the lines with sexy Safin himself  ) Sadly like her man she failed to turn up for one match and that may have cost her dear. She's extremely fit, trains hard with Marat of course :D and is tipped to be top 5 by this time next year.

Give it up for

Dinky Jo

As a special prize, I've arranged for Marat himself to whisk you off for a weekend of whatever you please. Make sure he's back Monday night though cos that's Peb's night and I'm having Tuesday as Goran is busy. Enjoy roflmao

Dinky Jo - July 9, 2007 06:02 PM (GMT)
i know - i missed one day, busy watching men in lycra

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 06:06 PM (GMT)
10th Place

In 10th, a lady with the biggest serve the women's game has ever seen , :fserve: She started slow but suddenly she found he rhythym and those aces came firing down. She epitomises what Wimbledon is all about, both in name and her passion for the grass. It was not however the best of plans on her part to indulge in Pimms and strawberries and cream during the change of ends, but it was more enjoyable than an energy drink and a banana!

Give it up for our very own

Wimbledon Ace - 322 points

Your prize - a weekend at Claridges with Tommy Haas. :D Now that sounds like a very good prize indeed.

As you do! roflmao I didn't realise you'd not predicted until it was too late. I would have awarded you the 3-0 system but there have been a few issues with doing that unless requested so I couldn't. Sorry. :( Anway you've got about the best prize in here so enjoy it :D

Dinky Jo - July 9, 2007 06:23 PM (GMT)
oh well, it's only a game..... :P hey, anyway, shouldn't i go down on the other list of being part-timers - somewhere ahead of trisco??

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 06:42 PM (GMT)
And now for our our players who bowed out in the quarter finals:

In Joint 8th place we have a right pair of arsders .... sorry .... outrageous talents :D

He's a bully from the baseline, his mental strength unbreakable, his Piercesque striking of the ball unreturnable and his thirst for gin unquenchable. :D A classy display from our King of Clay and FO Champion 2006. However, like his namesakes Ferrero and Nadal, he just could not crush the grass court kings, maybe the dress he borrowed from Mary was a bit too tight and restricted his movement? roflmao .
He'll be back though, his volleys get better every year.

Give it up for

Liam Valid 332 points

Your prize: a dress that fits and your own grass court to practice your grass skills on :tennis:

A new kid on the block this year, fancied by some to pull off a Goran with his WildCard and massive serve, but despite flashes of brilliance there were days when he was too drunk to pull of fhis won socks. :D A bit of a Tursunov, lacking consistency with his risky winners, but his ranking will shoot up and he'll be back next year if he lays off the  I hear he plans to skive all year and fake inury though, with a view to another WC -he feels he is more worthy than Boggo and that the LTW cannot deny him. We'll see ....

Give it up for

George 332 points

Prize - a slap from his mentor SB for aksing for her advice and then ignoring it. :D Oh go on then, and a

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 06:53 PM (GMT)
Our other quarterfinalists

in 7th place - he's young, he's wild, he's every umpire's nightmare. His code violation for punching Radek Stepanek on day one made him the bad boy of centre court, and sadly his love for Martina Hingis remains unrequited - she has agreed to see him but I beleive that was in court! :D He's smashed all his raquets this tournie but he played some blinding shotsin the second week and almost made the semis.

Give it up for CC's bad boy of tennis

Oblivion - 337 points

Prize - funding for a defence lawyer; sadly Ms Hingis refused to go out to dinner with you. She did however send this :2quiet: with instructions that you stuck it somewhere ... i think she meant your kitchen windowsill. ;)

Another quarter finals exit

In 6th, what a comeback we've seen this second week form this seasoned veteran of the circuit. Like Arthurs and Bjorkman, a tricky and experienced opponent for any youngster on grass and her sheer determination showed that you are never too old for this game, nor can you have too many whiskies in the process! :D Her on court guile is second to none. Watch out for her next year, I hear that like Navratilova she's going to carry on and go out on a high! :D

Give it up for

Scolios - 341 points

Your prize - I'm arranging for you to dine out with the lovely Mr Federer. You'll get to meet his cow, see his Swiss horn and I've had him promise not to put you through that again in a final! :D

Glad to hear it, we can't have those grass stained vintage clothing at such a prestigious event! roflmao I di dnto plan a huge ceremny but it's just kind of happening. And I have nto even had a beer yet so I'm not sure where it's coming from! roflmao I might need a break soon to recharge and

Our final quarter finalist _

In 5th place and narrowly missing out on a place in the semis by just one point, we have a real battler who kept up a high level of play thoughout, pushing the defending champion to the limit, and off her chair a few times as well between sets! :D The sublime touch and guile was Hingisesque, the power hotter than Venus, wearing out much of the oppositon. Mind you this is a GS champion we ae talking about who took the AO (or was it USO - my memory!) by storm and knows how to win. This Canadian Cannonball is no Greg Rusedski, a solid pedigree on all surfaces, and definitley one to watch next year. :D

Give it up for

Vivahate - 344 points

Your prize - Ms Hingis has agreed to dump Radek and come over to Canada to see the sight swith you. Don't tell Oblvion though, he is a very jealous man. :D Well done.

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 08:02 PM (GMT)
And now our semi-finalists:

In 4th place, the defending champion does an Amelie - last year's champion SB is dethroned in style. Sadly her serve and volley game is looking a bit outdated with all the big baseline power hitters about, but the crowd did enjoy her drop shots - throwing fruit in appreciation :D She's blaming the scheduling for her fatigue after 3 five set epics. The LAT better watch out! .She's going to enter mixed doubles next year so as she has omething to do in her impendign retirement. She awaits Goran's agent's reply as to whether he is up for it ..... and also up for the doubles. Failing that Rafter will just have to make a comeback instead.

Give it up for .... me!

SuperBrat 345 points

Prize: I'll let someone else pick for me but if it involves Goran or Pat I'll be happy :D

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 08:13 PM (GMT)
And our other semi finalist -

In 3rd place

In 3rd, it's our very own King of the System, he played percentage tennis throughout most of the tournie and it sure paid off for him much to SB's dismay! :D His forehand is ferocious, his serve is a beast and like his idol he caused a bit of contraversy with his bathroom breaks :D He had had 5 lagers beforehand though so we will let him off! roflmao However when all is said and done he's a is a true fighter to the end. LIke Serena, he'd still be a match for anyone if he had one leg. That stare alone would send an opponent into meltdown. Watch out for him next year, this kid does not take losing lightly.

Give it up for the one and only

SerenaW19 355 points

Your prize: :gwin: This prestigious trophy, donated by Serena Williams herself, that she won in her first ever amateur tennis tournie. Btw Serena made us pay for this too, cheeky madame. And there is evidence of it being used as a dip bowl at her Florida BBQ parties. Some people  :D

And I'd nominate SB's prize to be a bit of Argie Bhajee at her favourite curry house with '6-packed to the Rafter' Pat. No holds barred, even his net skills might now be able to cope with her verbal volleys after a Cobra or three!! And as a bonus, an impromptu appearance from Mr Ivanisevic, whose alleged trantrums at not being invited eclipsed even the ones at the 2001 SW19 final. He was a sour croat at being excluded, but now, no more.. :)

roflmao I love it! '6 packed to the Rafters" Pat! roflmao Yes it sounds like a great prize - those two and my favourite food. Let's hope Goran and Pat don't start fighting over the last piece of naan and the dopiaza. Much as I love them I can't face being barred from my favourite Southall curry house :D

Do you reckon that afterwards I should invite them back to watch that classic people's Monday Wimby final? ;)

Yay, that would be good!! They'd also have to re-enact the final few games of the match in your back garden too, along with Goran kicking some hastily put-up net that Goerge has somehow managed to cobble together, and '6 Pack Pat' diving here there and everywhere (as long as the scamp doesn't disturb the plants!)

As for disturbing the neighbours with all of these blood and thunder tennis heroics? Ah well, stuff them!! roflmao

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 08:36 PM (GMT)
Ok then, now for our RUNNER UP

What a performance this player put in over the last fortnight, even in the doubles which he claims is not his forte :D Stellar stuff :ok: His bold attacking Sampras style saw him shoot up the table faster than Nadal retrieving a ball. He then Sampras slam dunked his way into the lead during a tight five set final, only to lose out by the narrowest of margins in the crucial tiebreak. A tenacious opponent for anyone, but like Nadal he just couldn't clinch it but gave such a classic noentheless. Watch out for him next year though, many are tipping him to win. :D

Great performance though, give it up for

Wise Analyst 375 points

Your runner's up trophy, donated by Pete himself :gwin: I've also been in touch with Ana Ivanovic's agent ; she's free for dinner next Thursday as long as you ae paying. ;) :D

I've erected a net myself in George's absence from chicken wire just in case. My neighbour's always on at me to fix the fence, I'm an expert at bodging it with chicken wire and a staple gun now! roflmao Tbh my neighbour would probably be keen to see those two in my garden. She's may age and recently divorced, it woudl beat the strign of losers she has round any day! :D

SuperBRAT - July 9, 2007 08:55 PM (GMT)
Our WINNER:

And now for our new champion. She was always one step ahead of the competition, straight out of the blocks and hitting winners from all over the court like Gasquet v Roddick on acid! :D When she was down people doubted her. Wise pushed her patience to the limit with Hawkeye and uncharacteristic outbursts ensued. :D However, she psyched herself up and went for Wise's throat. Her groundstrokes are ferocious, her volleys are sublime, she covers the court like Venus and fights like Federer with the audicious shots to match. She fought back at the 11th hour to steal the crown in a classic final - the mark of a true champion coming through in the narrowest of margins under extreme pressure.

Congratulations to our winner on 376 points

Thanks SB even tho' you got my name wrong roflmao roflmao In true champion fashion I have people to thank but can't be bothered to list them all. The only important one is of course the Resplendent Roger, who managed to stretch the final to 5 sets and I was the only one to go for Rog in 5!
