Pretty good, I would say. Generally Fed's second half of the year has his best results, while Nadal has tended to struggle on the fast hardcourts.
That being said, Nadal is looking physically and mentally fit, and having the #1 ranking in his sight may well give him extra motivation to catch up on that surface as well.
I still think Fed will end the year at #1 --- but not with as big a margin as last year. But Roger can't afford many slip-ups in TMS events.

Nadal has really done impressively well so far this year. I would be surpised if there's ever been such a situation before. Federer has won two of the three slams, was runner up in the other, and yet is in 2nd place in YTD points.

Yes, it's all between Nadal and Federer. Yet one can see Djoko getting closer to them as well. In fact Djoko is closer to Nadal than Nadal is to Federer in the ATP ranking. Djoko in the mix might work in Fed's favour.
Very interesting end of season.

...and there is a slight discrepancy between ATP race points and money earned as Federer did earn a tiny bit more money than Nadal this calendar year.

tenez,
this might interest you
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/more/spec...7/index.20.htmlroger is the only tennis player in the top twenty earners worldwide.
btw, rankings/race and earnings are not really related are they? cause anna kournikova would be the glaring exception

Thanks for that Coolpix. This obviously takes into consideration sponsors contracts. I frankly thought they were making more money than that. But I guess this is not bad! ;)
Regarding the ATP race and the money earned, you right, it is not directly related but it would not be absurd if it were. The more important a tournament the more money and points players get usually. I believe there is/was such a ranking system in Golf.

To the surprise of no-one, apparently both Fed and Rafa have both now qualified for the year end championship due to take place in Shang Hai in November..
Speaking of which, I can't wait for this to take place in London for a few years!! :It's due to be there in 2009, isn't it??
