Title: I blame the Wimbledon organisers
chairman - July 8, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
For their stupidity, all they had to do was to reschedule the tournament for Rafa to catch his breath on monday. He has played for the last 6 days and been on court for almost 6 hours more than his opponent. This is acceptable if they had a days break. Venus Williams also talked about how tired she was and really had to finish the match in 2 sets.
I dont know

See my thread re: Wimby playign the price of catchup. I do agre, but not so much for Nadal's sake as the players in general. Iif they had spaced things out it might not have been Nadal in the final

:ok:
Anyway, was it really Nadal's disadvantage in the final? Jimmy Connors said he would have rather had Nadal's route than Federer's, because the latter hadn't really been tested and had a long time to go without matches.
So it's just 'what-ifs' anyway. It didn't look to me as though Nadal was tired. He had a little trouble with his leg in the fourth, but that obviously didn't make much of a difference. He was moving fine in the fifth, and said so himself.
So it's just the usual :bs: and sour grapes ...
Anyway, I figure the real travesty is a completely different one. The hawk-eye system got distracted by Rafa's bum-touching, and that's what threw it off on all those calls. :P

The time Rafa spent on court was because he could put away a journeyman like Soderling inside 5 sets, and he was hammered for 2 sets by Youzhny (he would have been off earlier had the russian not hurt his back). That's why he was on court so long - nothing to do with the organisers.
Anyway, it came back for him - he got Djokovic scratched and had a rest on saturday.

Chet was actually suggesting Djokovic sued The All England Club on the BBC 606 board roflmao roflmao .I agree with other posters on here that Fed was a bit short of matches before the final.Maybe Rafa was a little tired, but we all know his legendary stamina. As for his sore knee-that's the price he pays for his physical game to a certain extent.Or was it a bit of gamesmanship, along with the grunting and toilet break? ;)
