Title: Rafa's streak...

The Dav - April 29, 2006 10:04 PM (GMT)
He's on a 46-match winning streak on clay right now, will anyone stop him? Or is a 2nd RG title in the bag?

He's now tied with Vilas, Borg holds the record with 53 clay-court wins in a row, a win in Barcelona and Rome would do the trick...

I think it'd be great if he could do it it but i have a feeling that fed might get one over him in the final at rome...so that will mean he's tied on 53 with Vilas right?
Supposing they both reach the final, Nadal will have played the 3 (FULL) weeks in a row and Fed has been resting up so i think he'll tie it but not beat it. Lets see if he can prove me wrong...

Yeah, I feel the same Mkk, I reckon he could just slip up in that Rome final, Fed is the only one who can stop him...

Oh, and I made a blunder in my OP, it's Vilas with the record of 53 wins and not Borg  He's now tied with Borg on 46...

yup. A rested fed in the right frame of mind could be a tired Nadal. Coria minus the double faults would also win i feel but the double faults are almost as big a part of his came as his brilliant returning so id ont see that happening! Gaudio could be an outsider as well....

Saying that, nadal is supremely fit so i dont know think so many lweeks in a row will affect him as much as some other players but i think it may be just enough to hand the initiative to Fed.

I thought he tied with Borg, and was on the tail of Vilas?

Anyway I think he may be able to beat Vilas at present, provided he is healthy and doesn't meet Federer during those crucial matches.

the Fo really is NOt in the bag. I'm expectign Federer to come good then, and if nto this year, the next. I beleive he will win it one day. I get a feelign that this years' Fo will see soem upsets, and Rafa could be one of them. Kings of Clay don;t last long form what I can see, like Coria and Ferrerro.

Yeah, I corrected myself in my next post SB ;)

I'm not sure - he can definately be beaten, but it would take a tremendous day from someone to pull it off.

Hopefully it'll happen during RG

Hope so. For those who like a bet, it's th eonly way they will make any decent money :D And I am tryign to get the odds I want on a federer GS myself, so no losing the FO for Rog then.
