Title: Who will win the US Open?

chokapova - July 7, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)
After 3 different winners of the Slams this year, who will win the last one?

Can Venus maintain her Wimbledon form?
Will Serena pick up from where she left off in Australia?
Will Justine make up for last year?
Will The Cheat maintain her run of being thrashed at all this years Slams? roflmao
Or will someone else step up to the plate?

liam_valid - July 7, 2007 04:19 PM (GMT)
i will pick my option when i know whether Mary will be there or not :)

Hope she does play there this year though! :ok:

There's nothing to read into as your fiery hate for Maria is quite blatant there in your opening post.

In relation to the thread:
I think Serena will get over her injury have a great hardcourt season winning a title or two and have a great USO winning her second slam of the year, oh wait that's what I want to happen :P

SerenaW19 - July 17, 2007 12:17 PM (GMT)
Well as long as one of them wins it I'll be happy. Grand Slam number 7 for Venus or Grand Slam number 9 for Serena B)

I think Serena actually NEEDS the win more than Venus. I think she'll be difficult to stop if she gets over this injury, she must be starving for a Grand Slam win after her FO and Wimbledon disappointments.

trisco - July 17, 2007 12:36 PM (GMT)
Well, y'all better get ready to read this thread come end of of the USO and be utterly embarrassed at your disregard for this years USO winner, current defending champion.... Maria Sharapova. :D

I will take that as tongue in cheek coz 1 just needs to look at what Serena has done to her twice this year and then we had the Ivanovic mincing followed by the Venus mauling! Those courts at Flushing Meadow are lightening fast, she doesnt stand a chance against those girls!

ObL!v!0N - July 18, 2007 09:40 AM (GMT)
why do you always make these things? you just know everyone will vote for their favourite.
well for me, i don't think serena will win it, because of the injury she's carrying, i don't think venus will win it, bar wimbledon, her form hasn't been good, and she's a different player outside wimbledon, mauresmo looks like pulling out, and i don't see henin winning it, or the two serbs. for me it looks like a russian winner this year, maybe kuznetsova.

vivahate - July 18, 2007 12:37 PM (GMT)
justine will win it.

with her injury/injuries i would not be surprised if serena is absent from the USO this year. .

SerenaW19 - July 18, 2007 12:50 PM (GMT)
Serena has only missed one US Open since she turned pro and that was because she was having knee surgery at the time. She'll be there ;)

Also Im not quite sure how Maria has more votes than Venus.

Despite winning Wimbledon only 5 days before she just enhanced her perfect record against Petrova and beat Chakatvetze 64 61 at the Fed Cup, so it doesn't look like we're going to see a dip in form. The only thing that will stop Venus being a major contender at the USO is exhaustion like in 2005 or injury.

I wish she wasn't playing WTT though, it's too much!

9mmSuzi - July 18, 2007 12:58 PM (GMT)
:) a surprise if Jelena were to win....

I have very rarely made a poll!

And from a personal point of view I didn't vote my favourite, I voted for Serena!

Absolutely! :ok:

Venus afterall has won the US Open twice and those were two times she had won Wimbledon in the same year.
I'd be very surprised if Venus doesn't do well at the US Open. I guess for her she'd like to get her ranking up into the top 8 but as she showed at Wimbledon, seedings played little part in her ability to win a Slam! :)

In the last 3 wimby's, venus's ranking has been out of the top 10, so she really does disprove the theory that top seeds win the big events. not when the goddess is in town :D

Venus will hopefully have a great Open. she'll get more matches this year than she got in 05( due to flu) and she'll be in fine fettle for when it begins. She's certainly a top 3 player atm IMO now. wimby really confirmed that to me. When venus is playing her best, only Serena has the weaponary to stay with her. Venus is the most intimidating athletic prospect in the WTA. Hopefully it will be in her favour at the US Open.

Go venus! :yahoo:

Im in favour of this even though I havent voted.Im dying to see Venus play her best and get into a match with Henin and also get some wins over Jankovic. But go Venus for the Open!
