Title: Friday - semis
liam_valid - July 6, 2007 03:12 PM (GMT)
Venus is walking over Ivanovic, where Roddick is yet to play on No.1 so they might put the Henin match on centre after Venus
SerenaW19 - July 6, 2007 03:18 PM (GMT)
I don't think I've seen Venus serve this well since the US Open 2001.
I agree with Navratilova, she's playing better than when she won here in 2005.
I might have to change my name to VenusW19 roflmao

normally i give players the kiss of death by pug them on my sig, but it seems to have done Venus wonders :o roflmao
SerenaW19 - July 6, 2007 03:27 PM (GMT)
Yeah she's certainly thrived on it more than Henman  roflmao
Even I, one of the most optimistic fans of Venus, am shocked at how well she's serving considering her play in round 1 and 3 :yikes: I knew she'd get better but :o

i was right for once :D Henin net up on centre court
trisco - July 6, 2007 04:00 PM (GMT)
Shame for Ivanovic but Venus is pretty much showing she is one of the best grass court players of this generation.
Well done to her.
Who's the oldest out of Venus and Henin? If they are both in the final I'll be supporting the oldest as they have less years left to win it again.. :P

OMG Justine has lost focus. WTF is she doing? She's gone to sleep in the 2nd set
I can't stand it when she wins a 1st set so easily and then gets bored in the 2nd set.
Bartoli has improved though, but Justine is not upping her game.
C'mon Justine - stay awake - you need to!! :angry3:
Perhaps she's conserving energy for tomorrow  She'll bloody need it!!! :yikes: :yikes:
barrystar - July 6, 2007 04:58 PM (GMT)
Knowing that you are going to get absolutly spanked in teh final would be enough to make most people lose focus I think....

You think Justine will get spanked then?
SerenaW19 - July 6, 2007 05:05 PM (GMT)
I don't know what happened to Justine there, I haven't seen her play that badly even for three games for a long time.
She's back on track now though :)

I don't think that she will get spanked, I think that she is a better tennis player than anyone else at the moment, but if she is up against a real power player who is playing well like Venus is then I think she is not the favourite.
Shame, because I'd like her to win.

She always does it SW. When she's won a set easily, she gets bored and loses concentration and out come the UE's! It takes her a while to get back on track, but she certainly does.
That backhand is helping her out today B)
Let's hope this is her "bad day at the office" and not tomorrow :yikes: roflmao

I know Barrystar .... I totally agree with you, that's why I made a thread called "Just hand Venus the title now" roflmao
So what does MP mean? I know it to mean "Match Point", but it obviously isn't because we are halfway though the 2nd set. You wrote it in your initial post :)
barrystar - July 6, 2007 05:16 PM (GMT)
MP does not mean anything - it was entirely inadvertent.
That Bartoli is a tough little number, that's for sure. I am really impressed with the way she is playing. Trouble is, if this match turns out to be a marathon that give Venus real advantage.

I thought Justine played really well for all of that match, I felt it was more Myskina picking her level.
Myskina and Justine always have such great matches. They both have such complete games, hasn't Myskina retired now :yikes:

Exactly! If this goes to a 3rd then Venus is laughing .... she might be laughing anyway.
Lovely scream of Allez from Justine after that wonderful rally.
I don't like the look of this and neither does Justine's brother from what I just saw :yikes:
Break here Justine, break here. Wow!!!! On the line
Bartoli has improved so much - for 1st time in SF and first time on CC, she's doing bloody well  I just wish it wasn't against Justine roflmao
liam_valid - July 6, 2007 05:30 PM (GMT)
Bartoli takes a set :o i doubt she will take the third though
liam_valid - July 6, 2007 05:32 PM (GMT)
maybe Justine should start serve volleying, she hasnt done it on one point yet
SerenaW19 - July 6, 2007 05:33 PM (GMT)
I can't believe Bartoli got that set. Justine is like Venus from the 1st and 3rd rounds.
Why couldn't she play like this against Serena
Still Serena would've probably only got double bagelled by Venus or somthing
Bartoli is playing really well to be fair, but I never would've thought she managed a set under any circumstances.
Flame - July 6, 2007 05:34 PM (GMT)
what a gutsy kid that bartoli is. i didn't think she had a set in her but somehow she pulled that out under immense pressure.
and justine clearly has the yipps on serve.
liam_valid - July 6, 2007 05:41 PM (GMT)
can Bartoli keep this up?
SerenaW19 - July 6, 2007 05:46 PM (GMT)
FFS Justine, is she tanking? Cmon!
She knocks Serena out for this?
Queen Justine - July 6, 2007 05:55 PM (GMT)
I can't believe this, I really can't!
3-0 to Bartoli in 3rd set. Justine just doesn't know what to do. Bartoli is running her rigid! You can see on Justine's face she's just flumoxed! She can't even hit shots!
Venus must be laughing her head off!!!! and I don't blame her.
I can't see Justine pulling this one back ... even then, she'll be knackered for tomorrow. It'll be a Venus -v- Bartoli final.
I just want to cry, I really do.
liam_valid - July 6, 2007 05:56 PM (GMT)
Justines only hope now is if Bartoli chokes
liam_valid - July 6, 2007 05:59 PM (GMT)
this is inspired stuff. If Justine loses, at least she can say she was beaten, rather than losing through bad play
Queen Justine - July 6, 2007 06:01 PM (GMT)
It mighe even be a bagel!!
I CAN'T STAND IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh. My. God.
Was Justine injured or something? She couldn't move properly...she was making a lot of UEs. She's such a fighter but she looked so deflated.
Marion however, was in dream mode
Flame - July 6, 2007 06:10 PM (GMT)
on betfair bartoli was 130 to 1 at one stage. i won 1,600 euro on her. :)
petalp - July 6, 2007 06:12 PM (GMT)
Just got in and caught the end of the Henin Bartoli match..
I am in shock!!! :o
A steward's enquiry is in order!!
As I haven't seen the match I can't comment, so will watch it another time. I have a nasty feeling that will be a car crash of a third set from a Justine perspective though..
I cannot believe how Marion Bartoli has just battled her way to the final.. can only say, well done her...

I have no words.
Just AMAZING.
Flame - July 6, 2007 06:14 PM (GMT)
i could smell that. the odour of decay was in justine's game as soon as bart broke back at the start of the 2nd set. it's just like last year's final.
she wasn't injured, she froze and bart jumped on her.

Justine wasnt playing her best in that 3rd set, but Bartoli wasnt letting her, she had her running all over the place, and i think she was on 86% first serves in for the match
felixsanchez - July 6, 2007 06:19 PM (GMT)
AHAHAHA! I LOVE BARTOLI!
I didnīt see the match cause of this frikking holiday resort but anybody that beats justine i like! roflmao
Could she win the title? That would be so random
ObL!v!0N - July 6, 2007 06:20 PM (GMT)
I told you guys she had the potential to shock Henin, she's a very good player you know. Today she just played superbly, and I'm so pleased for her, coz at the start it looked like she was gonna be murdered. Since she beat Jankovic I believed she could cause a major upset, and she is not one to be underestimated. Superb performance
Interesting how it has to be an injury for Henin, you can't admit she was out-played
