Title: My Wimbledon 07 experience.......
Description: ...fuming....
Tenez - June 30, 2007 08:37 PM (GMT)
You may remember I was meant to arrive from the US at 7 am today have a 2/3 h sleep and rush to center court to make the most of my pair of tickets. I was really excited.
It did not quite turn out that way. My United Airline flight from San Diego to San Francisco was delayed due to foggy conditions in SF but mainly due to the pilots being late!!!!!! once in SF, I rushed through the SF terminals and security to get on my last flight to London, just to see the plane pulling off the gate. United Airline helpfdesk was dreadful handling the tickets re-booking - almost making me feel I was responsible for missing the flight (I'll avoid flying with them at all cost from now). Had to wait 6 hours to get on the next flight and arrived home just in time to change and rush to CC (the real one ;))....
Guess what ???? I arrived at the bottom of the staircase 29 at 61 5/2 15/30 on Momo serve with of course security asking me to wait patiently on there while Momo finishes her game (normal, no complaint here but....) before I can get onto my seat. Unfortunately she did finish that game and the match with it. It rained the rest of the day and never got the chance to seat on my designated ticket chair!
So to sum up, my Wimbledon experience was 2 minutes short at the bottom of Staircase 29 where I could only see Momo and Momo court side between 2 security guys.
I can tell you the weather here is a bit of a shock coming from San Diego!!!

Damn Tenez. Sorry about that. It seems you ain't had a good day!
The weather is a bit of a pain at the mo...
I'm surprised they are not playing tomorrow? Was hoping for another people's Sunday as I would have gone down.
What happens when it rains, are you entitled to your cash back?

Same here. It would have made up for it. i think it is harsh to ask players to play 2 full matches 2 days in a row when there is a chance to catch up with schedule.

Good question. I heard we are if we have not seen enough tennis...what is "enough", I am not sure. I know Momo's match last just over 1 h. I ve to find out. those tickets are not cheap...even when on the top row.
One thing is great on centre court, is that despite being high up, we still felt pretty close to the players.
...red eye.....

I have to say I was a lot luckier, I got tickets for thursday on to Centre Court, saw Timmy's loss which was a shame but it was a great match in terms of atmosphere.
We then got ground passes for Friday and that was all good as well....
I got a bundle of signatures and stuff....
But I do sympathise with you Tenez, I guess you need a bit of luck sometimes if you're going to Wimbledon.

Thanks Scottguy. I am determined to go back next week and try my chance to see Gasquet and Federer.

They aren't playing on Sunday because the weather forecast was even worse than for Saturday. Centre court ticket holders will get a full refund of the face value of tickets for that day, which is £54, as there was just under an hour's play.
I've been there all week and unfortunately Saturday has been the worst day :(

:( sorry it turned into such a miserable trip for you Tenez - I cant believe the weather we have had - and its not showing any signs of improving - Wimbledon could still be going at the end of July at this rate!

Been there all week, and also running away in the predictions contest?
No substitute for being there, I guess!
Tanez, sorry to hear about your day btw. Reminds me of when i went to see England v Australia in the cricket a couple of years ago. It rained all day, right up to about 4-5pm, then they played for an hour, and walked off in bright sunshine because that was their scheduled finishing time, ignoring the 2 hours of sunshine left in the day!
I think that this is the risk with summer sports though. hopefully it won't put you off going again :)
WimbledonAce - July 1, 2007 12:27 PM (GMT)
They are not playing today because the schedule is not sufficiently back logged. There is only one half of the 3rd rounds that are delayed and they will be played tomorrow. I assume the remaining 4th rounds will be played on Tuesday along with the womens quarters which are ready. The rest of the quarters should be completed Wednesday so it will be back on track. I am going Tuesday and the weather is meant to be crap so I am downcast and even more so now Ive read about Tommy :(
Anyone from Saturday will get a full refund - never helps in my book, as less than an hour was played. The rain is so frustrating

What do you do guys to spend the whole week there? Do you work in the sport business?
As mentioned many times, i live a few hundered yards away from Center court so, I will try to go this week as I am not that busy that week. It is getting good tickets that is difficult though.
