Title: BBC Coverage

trisco - June 27, 2007 06:07 PM (GMT)
Some classic stuff on the BBC right now. Wimbledon 1987.

Such a contrast to the style of play now, really intruiging to watch,
the old Court No1 is there, I used to like that court, it seemed to have an intimate feel to it that the new Number 1 court doesn't

SerenaW19 - June 27, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
Are they showing particular matches or just clips of it?

I bought a programme from Wimbledon 1987 the other day at Eastbourne actually, thought it was nice to have seeing as it was the year I was born :D It was only £1 :o

from the bbc's blog...http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/6243576.stm

1918: Good news - the official voice of Wimbledon has just declared that the next storm should miss SW19 and they are "confident" of some play.

I didn't know the storms were aiming at you ;)

petalp - June 27, 2007 06:35 PM (GMT)
I have no idea of who won wimbledon when I was born.. probably Rod Laver!!

I do however know that I was 8 years old when Bjorn Borg was dominating, and old enough to enjoy the McEnroe, Borg and Connors rivalry. B) And remember the Ginny victory too!

Am enjoying some of the old clips too. The beeb has such a tresure chest of tennis footage. It really ought to show more of this!!!

A BBC5 tennis channel on Freeview please?!

What incredibly w*nk crap coverage the BBC sport website publishes these days.
Who the heck is this Tom Fordyce giving live "commentary" on The Mo Mo match.
We're not interested in his opinion on what Vaidisova looks like and his extremely "hilarious" take on zee French language is wearing particularly thin..

they all appear the same these days.. I hope they don't call themselves reporters/journalists

trisco - July 3, 2007 11:42 AM (GMT)
And Caroline Cheeseman too.. who the balls is she..

Me too! :D

I was enjoyign a documentary about Borg the other day. What an amazing man he was, I remember him winning all his titles and that tie break with Mac, best fo all time that was.

They also showed the great BJK and I think Court playign that longest match which was onyl two sets, but there were no tie breaks back then. They playe dto 14-12 I think and also similar in the other set. Such stamina.
