Apparently, last Saturday when Justine won the Eastbourne title, she made history becoming the first woman ever to win French Open and Eastbourne back to back for two straight years, 2006 and 2007.

Do you think she'll get past Serena?
fedrules - June 28, 2007 09:14 PM (GMT)
Certainly hope so,but Serena is a formidable player with power and skill so it'll be a tough match.

TeamJustine - June 28, 2007 11:47 PM (GMT)
:yikes: :yikes: Word on the wire is she has tendonitis on that ankle :yikes: :yikes:
Doesn't seem to have affected her that much so far...but I have tendonitis in the left wrist and its kept me out of several golf tournaments and so I know from experience that it does get worse with agrivation :yikes:
lalitha - June 29, 2007 04:53 AM (GMT)
That's bad news because she's so determined to win it this time..Hope it just doesn't affect her game...By the way that strapping looks really cool..

It was in yesterdays Daily Mail, QJ

There seems little that can prevent a second Wimbledon meeting between Serena and Henin in what could be the seminal match of the women's tournament.
Just as Williams has had a concern over her hamstring, so the Belgian world number 1 admitted a minor bout of tendinitis in her right foot.
It necessitated her wearing a form of heat strapping on her lower shin that looked remarkably like a shoe horn sticking out of her sock during a 6-0, 6-4 win over Vera Dushevina.
Henin's progress, since proving beyond question that she is queen of Parisian clay courts with her fourth French Open triumph, has been serene.
The Eastbourne title was secured by three wins in less than an hour and a tussle with Amelie Mauresmo from which she emerged victorious in the final.
Her only concern yesterday was that Wimbledon without a roof over Centre Court has lost its distinctive character. Henin said: 'It's not the same, not at all. It's a bit sad because Centre Court was so beautiful and it was all linked to the history of the place.
'It's true that you can say Wimbledon has lost its soul. It could be better in the future when they put the roof back on but it's a shame in the meantime.
'It's bizarre. There is more light on the court, the grass is longer than in previous years and the spectators feel further away. You have to get used to it.' |
She doesn't seem too fussed about it so
And yeah lalitha the heat patch looks well cool () she only ever wears it in black. Never white - I knew I had a point when I said Justine doesnt like playing in white

I would like to see her get Wimbledon too, twice a finalist with a talent and desire that deservese the prize.
I think she's got a decent chance against Serena - she will have seen how Molik put her in trouble and Henin should have a better chance of sticking to the game plan under pressure. If Serena gets more match fit as the tournament progresses she will be more difficult to beat. It's probably a good thing for Henin to meet her in the QF for that reason.

Thanks very much for the story.
I am also  that it won't get worse
Here's a little something to show that our Tennis Queen/Pocket Rocket/Mighty Mouse/Best One-Handed Backhand in the Business has a great sense of humour
Belgian journos asked Ju about her black tape again yesterday.
Belgian Journalist: "Has it become longer?"
and she answered:
JH: "Oh yes, a couple more matches and it will reach all the way up to my hip"

BIG-TODGER - June 29, 2007 10:36 AM (GMT)
It would be great if she could win Wimbledon.
If would also be great if younger players could emulate her all court game, rather than aping the one dimensional power game which seems so universal in the womans game.

Believe me, there's nothing more I would want for her than to win Wimbledon ...... oh and good health of course
I totally agree with you regarding young players emulting her game. The nearest I think to who is doing that at the moment is Ana Chakvadatze. What do you think? Ana C seems like the only one who isn't a ballbasher.
