Title: Tuesday 26th June
MrInvisible - June 26, 2007 11:18 AM (GMT)
For the Brits, Baltacha is currently playing Srebotnik on Court no.3, Lee Childs is in action on Court 14 against Qureshi. Meanwhile, Mahut, Gasquet, Ljubicic and Hantuchova all playing at moment...
Manzikert - June 26, 2007 12:43 PM (GMT)
Qureshi is currently up two sets to love 6-3, 6-4 on Childs. It might have seemed a winnable match for the British qualifier but this is the chap who upset Gasquet in Halle so clearly he can be dangerous on this surface.
Blake takes the first set against Andreev 6-3. On any other surface it would have been a very tough match-up but I think as long as he doesn't let up his guard the American will see it through.
Gasquet through in straights against Ulirach 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. With Murray out of his section he has a great shot at the QFs I'd think.
Ljubicic doing well against the odious Spadea 6-4, 6-4, but trails (on serve) 5-4 in the third.
It was touch and go for Safin in the first set but he is on top against De Voest 7-6(5), 6-4. Perhaps he'll actually make it to the third round for his appointment with the defending champ - the last time they played was actually on grass as well, in the Halle final of 2005.
Manzikert - June 26, 2007 12:51 PM (GMT)
Pfeh. Spadea pulls the third set out from under Ljubicic 6-4. The Croat seemed to have picked up where he left off in Holland (winning the Ordina title in place of his younger compatriot Ancic, who couldn't play to defend his title) and should have wrapped it up in straights.
Del Potro rapidly closes out his interrupted match from yesterday against Italian veteran Sanguinetti 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. Not the most convincing result - he reached the quarters in Nottingham where he lost to eventual champion Karlovic - and was unlucky to face Nadal in the first round at Queen's, so he can do all right for himself on grass. It might be nice to think he could test Federer (who he meets in the next round) and provide an entertaining early contest for the No 1 but the young Argentine is still such an unproven quantity.
Mahut and Clement have swapped sets 6-3, 3-6 (respectively) in their all-French encounter. It was a tough draw for both men, who have been some of the form players of the grass 'season' so far.
Tsonga (who upset defending champion Hewitt in Queen's) proves he is still dangerous as he is up two sets to love 7-6(4), 7-5 against Ordina semifinalist and countryman Benneteau.

Bad news for Mahut fans...Clement is a break up in the 3rd set....Come on Mahut - Clement is deadly dull, whilst Mahut is one of those players that Wimbledon needs in the draw...
MrInvisible - June 26, 2007 02:30 PM (GMT)
Mahut serving for match at 5-4 up in 4th set. Robredo v Kendrick has now gone to a 5th set meanwhile...

And good news for Ferrero fans...he just got through a tough 5 setter...

wayne arthurs, as you might expect, is fighting gallantly to prolong his career. he was 2 sets and a break down but broke back and they're in a 3rd set tiebreak.
SerenaW19 - June 26, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)
He won it 7-4 and they're in a 4th set :)
Nadal coming up with some really impressive shots atm. 2 all in the 2nd set set.
