Yes Tommy looks quite strong WA and is sneakign through rather quietly. I hope they show the match with Tursy, I'm a bit fed up of seeing the same seeds every day.

Im sure they will show the match on one of the interactive options as it should be pretty good.

Sorry to hear that! Fed and Tommy usually have pretty good battles..

Tommy has been terribly injury-prone over the years though, hasn't he. Tis a shame..

Wise on the booze again..

But then again, you're right.. it looks like Federer didn't win a single point against Haas after all.. ;)

vivahate - July 1, 2007 02:18 PM (GMT)
maybe like martina, haas shouldn't have played wimbledon

I think the Wise jinx strikes again - predicts a Haas win against Federer, and Haas immediatly pulls out of the match

Out for a month at least :(

yeah, i'm really surprised there was no play today. i know the forecast didn't look that great today, but even getting a few matches out of the way will help - if the weather is bad again on monday they're going to be in trouble :(

scolios - July 1, 2007 07:35 PM (GMT)
Really sorry Tommy has withdrawn :(

Also it means we shan't see Fed until Wednesday  How will we survive B)

Have just seen that both Safi and Davydenko have been criticising Wimbledon for being boring - all there is is tennis, said Davydenko. What did he expect? Dancing girls? Striptease?

I've gone off him and Safin, and we don't lke Nalbandian either because of what he said about English women last year roflmao

Dinky Jo - July 1, 2007 07:47 PM (GMT)

Q. You still don't like Wimbledon; maybe you said it's very expensive in London.

MARAT SAFIN: Well, the most expensive city is Moscow, first of all. It's not like I dislike because everybody tries to pick on me and tries to put the words in my mouth because I said something that I don't like London. I love London, first of all. Wimbledon is a pretty good facility. It's okay.

So then I have my few things about the food, but it doesn't really matter. I don't make a big deal out of it, what I'm saying. But of course the press wants to start the sensation, Safin said and complained, and who cares about this.

But for sure there are people that like it. That's why I'm in this situation and that's why you're asking me this question.

he's been complaining bitterly about how expensive the food is at wimbledon :yikes: oh, and has said it's not very good food........

scolios - July 1, 2007 08:03 PM (GMT)
Yeah, well, I bet the food is expensive at Wimbledon and probably pretty awful, too - so one can't really criticise Safin for that. Sounds as if he has been misquoted?

well, i've read all his post-match interviews at wimbledon ( ) and all i've read about is him complaining about the food, nothing about wimbledon being boring........

Big Al - July 1, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
'All Wimbledon has is tennis'? What a ridiculous comment .
No other tournament has anywhere near the prestige, place in history , tradition , etc.etc.

Hangover? What hangover? Just had a technical problem with the keyboard last night, that's all. ;)

(I feel f***ing terrible)

At least the prediction of Fed not winning a single point was right. B)2

mightyjeditribble - July 1, 2007 10:14 PM (GMT)
Poor Tommy. :(

But Roger is through to another quarterfinal ... which in all likelihood he would have been anyway, although it could have been a nice battle with Tommy. All the Germans out of Wimbledon as well, then? :o

Hopefully the long break won't be a problem for Fed, he was in good shape before the weekend, seeing of Marat. However, I can't see Ferrero achieving on grass what he couldn't do on clay, so it should be another semi. Will it be Roddick, or do you reckon Gasquet can make a breakthrough here? We'll have to wait and see, although the chances of either of them dethroning Roger seem rather slim ...

Bottom half still looks pretty exciting --- the question is, can Nadal do it again, and if not, who can stop him? There are a number of people who I reckon could give him trouble on grass, but he's still got lots of chances to get to the final, I reckon. Would be interesting to see him v. Youzhny or Berdych on grass, given their past success on hardcourts. Come on, Monday!

I think Kiefer is still in against Djokovic.....

Big Al - July 1, 2007 10:26 PM (GMT)
Its a pity Safin never had to play Nadal , that would have been a mouthwatering encounter. :)
I really think Djokovic could be Nadals big threat, since he played very good attacking tennis against him at the French for a couple of sets.
Youzhny has beaten him at the US and seems likely that one of these players who hit big and through the ball will give Nadal a lot of trouble.
If not, Roger will dismiss him in straight sets in the final . :D

tursunov must be livid. haas barely puts him out and then he forfeits.

I completely forgot about Kiefer :o

He's been out for so long ... good to see him back! Looks like he's going out against Djokovic, though.

SuperBRAT - July 2, 2007 08:03 PM (GMT)
Yeah, commisserations to Tommy :( He was having a good run, shame he had to pull out. Seems injury has dogged his career. I remember him being top 5 years back then dropping down due to his elbow. Good perfromance though

vivahate - July 2, 2007 08:49 PM (GMT)
he'll be back.
