Title: Monday 25th June - Day 1

trisco - June 25, 2007 01:54 PM (GMT)
Cavaday breaks Hingis to love :yikes:

trisco - June 25, 2007 01:57 PM (GMT)
Cavaday is 3-0 up!!

Jesus, I knwo I was nervous about this but I wasn't expecting this.

C'mon Hingis!!

trisco - June 25, 2007 01:58 PM (GMT)
Hingis gets a break back 1-3

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 01:58 PM (GMT)
There's clearly a lot of rust on Hingis's game, having been out for more than a month. She was actually down two service breaks to Cavaday 0-3, but has already retrieved one break for 1-3.

trisco - June 25, 2007 02:00 PM (GMT)
I wish she would stop hitting mid court shots right down the middle to her opponents... she never goes for the lines anymore

trisco - June 25, 2007 02:01 PM (GMT)
2-3 Hingis...

Now break again!

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:01 PM (GMT)
Hingis scrapes out of a deuce game to hold serve for the first time 2-3.

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:03 PM (GMT)
Cavaday is looking impressive thus far. She's creating some fine short angles, hauling Hingis well wide on both wings.

trisco - June 25, 2007 02:06 PM (GMT)
Hmmm..

4-2 Cavaday... I don't enjoy seeing Hingis play like this

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:06 PM (GMT)
A poorly-chosen flubbed drop shot from Hingis that catches the tape - always a sign of trouble in her game.

Cavaday holds on to her break advantage a while longer for 4-2.

trisco - June 25, 2007 02:08 PM (GMT)
She looks quite rattled like she doesn't wanna be there.

Holds for 3-4

trisco - June 25, 2007 02:10 PM (GMT)
Couple of nice classic backhands from Hingis there..

trisco - June 25, 2007 02:11 PM (GMT)

Well done Hingis, 3 good backhands gets the break back

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:12 PM (GMT)
Now it's Hingis who is finding the angles, putting pressure on Cavaday, and draws even 4-all. Credit to her for shaking it off.

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:14 PM (GMT)
Hingis seems to have found her range, with an easy hold to 15 for 5-4. Wouldn't be surprised to see her break here for the set.

They are battling it out for this game.. If Cav holds I have a bad feeling for Hingis..

I had the same feeling, especially when Hingis squandered set point from deuce. But Cavaday throws in two doubles in a row to gift her another.

Nice passing shot from the Brit to save a second.

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:24 PM (GMT)
A third set point goes by the wayside with a wide backhand miss from Hingis. It's her last chance as two strong serves from Cavaday put away the game with a gutsy hold for 5-all.

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:27 PM (GMT)
No trace of disappointment from Hingis with a brisk hold to 15 for 6-5. She'll probably get another look at set point here I'd think.

Buttercup - June 25, 2007 02:31 PM (GMT)
C'mon Naomi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

trisco - June 25, 2007 02:31 PM (GMT)
Tiebreak it is... Cav holds to 15..

C'mon Hingis!

Buttercup - June 25, 2007 02:32 PM (GMT)
C'mon Cav!!!! Tris how can you not cheer for the English lass :o

trisco - June 25, 2007 02:32 PM (GMT)
Gotta be fair to the Brit though, she is doing well, its a shame she has come up against my fave Hingis or I would be rooting for her.

I want Hingis to win though as I'm sure a first round loss wouldn't do her cponfidence any good at all and I wanna see her get back to a decent level..

trisco - June 25, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
shit 4-1 Cavaday..

Buttercup - June 25, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
bah, im to excited that an Brit is playing well :o

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
Cavaday is all business, and it's Hingis who is showing the nerves. Disaster looms at 1-5 in the tiebreaker. Hingis has to be thinking about those three missed set points during the change of ends.

trisco - June 25, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
5-1

5 set points Cavaday..

Buttercup - June 25, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
C'mon Naomi

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:35 PM (GMT)
A terrible overhead miss gives it to the home favourite, 7-6(1). That was a bit of a mental breakdown there for Hingis.

Buttercup - June 25, 2007 02:37 PM (GMT)
:D :D woohooooooooooooo

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:39 PM (GMT)
Hingis seems annoyed and breaks to love for 1-0 in the second.

trisco - June 25, 2007 02:42 PM (GMT)
:(

C'mon Hingis... I'm off home in a sec, I bet I don't get home until around 7... Sheffield and the Peak District is in a bit of a state right now.. Bridges collapsing rivers bursting buildings on fire..
Sheesh...

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:42 PM (GMT)
Some poor serving and UEs from Hingis give the break right back. It's looking grim.

Cav breaks back..

Manzikert - June 25, 2007 02:45 PM (GMT)
Yet another break of serve puts Hingis back up 2-1.

Not too sure about how it did, just that once it had, there were a lot of flammable liquids in! Obviously!

Shame it did burn down, I spent all my university years in that club before it was called Gatecrasher though :(
Although I imagine they will get a nice insurance pay out and rebuild better than before but looking at it as I go past, it looks like it may need to be demolished first.

There is a building on fire near the Shopping Centre Meadowhall at the mo.. looks quite big too, although I imagine the rain will put a stop to it.
I have never in living memory experienced rain like this..

back to tennis and Hingis is 4-2 up  Hopefully the set soon
