Title: Day 1 updates

trisco - June 25, 2007 10:45 AM (GMT)
Well the rain has hit and the covers are up on the courts, there will officially be no play before 1230BST, I suspect that to be extended.. :(

Is anyone else having difficulty with the Wimbledon website? Looks rather odd to me at the moment?

Dinky Jo - June 25, 2007 11:04 AM (GMT)

trisco - June 25, 2007 11:36 AM (GMT)
Centre Court looks so different... at least there is nothing to protect Sir Cliff from the elements so I doubt he will be up singing this year. Thank god!

His Christianity is just a complex rouse to fool us all!!

WimbledonAce - June 25, 2007 01:40 PM (GMT)

Yes it does look odd doesn't it.....so erm open  but I like it. :D

MrInvisible - June 25, 2007 01:58 PM (GMT)
Roddick's off to a quick start against Gimelstob...

And Hingis broke back against Cavaday...

WimbledonAce - June 25, 2007 01:59 PM (GMT)
How can it be raining on one court only??!!!! A-Rod is steaming!!!

Flame - June 25, 2007 02:01 PM (GMT)
ok, so much for the cavaday bandwagon. i was still right though.

MrInvisible - June 25, 2007 02:03 PM (GMT)
Roddick's in a hurry, racing away with 1st set...

Someone said rain...is it really raining again now? :(

MrInvisible - June 25, 2007 02:10 PM (GMT)
Which matches are on BBC interactive anyone?

WimbledonAce - June 25, 2007 02:22 PM (GMT)
Haasy - when they let him out again, hingis, and gonzo. Gonzo is losing.

Dinky Jo - June 25, 2007 02:23 PM (GMT)
why does it look like some matches have been suspended? is it raining again, or were those courts just not dry enough?

ummm.......any idea why?

MrInvisible - June 25, 2007 02:27 PM (GMT)
On another thread I tipped Ginepri to beat Gonzalez...although having said that Gonzalez appears to be fighting back.

I've got a feeling that Cavaday will falter in a 1st set tie-break against Hingis, and that'll be end of the match as a competitive contest...

MrInvisible - June 25, 2007 02:34 PM (GMT)
Federer coasting, up 4-1 on 2nd set...I don't even think he'll have one of his concentration lapses (or 'brain farts' as someone somewhere once amusingly described them), probably wants his match done and dusted before it rains again.

Gimelstob making more of a fight of it in 2nd set. Cavaday 5-1 up in her tie-break against Hingis (please don't choke!).

MrInvisible - June 25, 2007 02:36 PM (GMT)
And Cavaday wins the 1st set 7-6! Great call from Flame on that match, whatever happens next.

Meanwhile journeywoman Tansugarn is serving for a surprise 1st set over the much-touted Peer...

MrInvisible - June 25, 2007 02:47 PM (GMT)
Court 3 Haas v Fleischman is looking farcical! Or does Court 3 have a micro-climate of its own?

based on the live scores - it appears that court 3, 4, 5 and 16 have their own weather systems.....

MrInvisible - June 25, 2007 03:00 PM (GMT)
Gonzalez down 3-1 in the tie-break against Ginepri...crunch time for the Chilean...

Flame - June 25, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)

WimbledonAce - June 25, 2007 03:17 PM (GMT)
Come on Martina!!! You can not lose against that bag of spanners! And they stopped showing Fed for that!
Tommy is looking good :ok:

MrInvisible - June 25, 2007 03:24 PM (GMT)
Well, Fed wraps up his match in straight sets, and a win for Falla of Colombia against Sam Querrey of the US.

*Fully expects Pebs to dust off her trusty Hen-o-meter, for Henman v Moya, which I imagine has been in cold storage in the attic all year*
