any thoughts on biggest upset of day 1?

here's my pick. i know it's crazy but:

cavaday to beat hingis.

martina hasn't played in ages and she's had some shockers at wimby down through the years. i know it's mad but i can't shake the feeling that she'll struggle against cav.

i can't see cavaday winning. the quality of the brits is appalling, i mean she got slaughtered by bartoli the other day.

first round upset in the womens for me, is dementieva. she looks out of sorts atm, and dechy is not the match she would want.

dementieva is poor by so is dechy so who knows?

dushevina i think will lose today to bacsinszky. kind of an obsure one i know but definitely considered an upset.

I'm with Oblivion on this - Dementieva to lose to Dechy. Can't see Hingis losing - she's been practising for weeks on the grass. I don't see Andreev beating Blake either - although Andreev is a big-hitter he doesn't do so well on faster surfaces as the other Russians do.

Other 'shocks' of the day:

The biggie for me - Ginepri to beat Gonzalez. Gonzo is 5th seed, but I've not been convinced by him since Aus Open - Ginepri is a dangerous 1st round opponent and tends to thrive when he is the underdog.

Henman to beat Moya - well, Henman winning these days is a shock, and Moya is the seeded player here. However, I think Moya is a decent match up for Henman - not as powerful as he used to be and I don't think he will like Henman's slice.

Becker to beat Chela - Chela's not bad on fast surfaces, but this looks a 50:50 match to me.

Not stupid, I see where you are coming from. I think it is certainly possible, but I'd say that Martina should progrss due to experince - then again, she has lost in the first round before ! :yikes:

i'm not convinced by gonzo at all. straight sets loss to stepanek at the french? that's unacceptable.

however robby ginepri is the "mr consistency" of the men's tour. consistently out in the first or second round.

obviously i want tim to win. but it's the upset that dare not speak it's name. i can't bear the thought of him going out in the first round.

there was a headline the other day that said something like:
