Title: Dream draw: quarter-finals onwards

MrInvisible - June 21, 2007 12:20 PM (GMT)
In advance of the real draw tomorrow, what would be your fantasy line-up for quarter-finals (and possibly onwards):

Personally, I'd like:

Nadal v Nalbandian - they've never played - a grasscourt match-up could be most interesting.

Mahut v Hewitt - What a classic that could be - the in-form serve-volleyer versus the expert counterpuncher.

Roddick v Djokovic - Have they played yet? Got a feeling this would be a real fun grudge match with everything: aces, racket throwing, volleys and blistering forehands

Federer v Murray - OK, its unlikely to happen, with Murray injured, but imagine the atmosphere for this, and Murray has the game to frustrate Federer too.

Its only a dream, and would never happen, but just imagine if we had Nadal v Mahut semi-final...Nadal finally triumphing in an epic to end the heroic dream of Mahut, Murray v Djokovic (I'm actually a Federer fan, but have to admit that if he loses at Wimbledon, it'll become a lot less predictable)...Djokovic's greater stamina sees him through against Nadal.

Djokovic v Nadal final - Djoko gets his revenge on Nadal for the French Open semi-final...

What about everyone else - what line-up would you like?

Hmmm..

Arthurs V Nadal (Massive massive ask I know but would love to see the Ozzy bow out on a real high and beat his previous best showing)
Murray V Henman (You did say fantasy quarters didn't you :P would be a great match to see where the crowds alliegance lies but think we all know we'd be cheering Henners all the way)
Federer V Safin (I'd like to see Safin start achieving again)
Djokovic V Hewitt (I'd like to see Hewitt beat by one of my faves rather than the other way round for a change)

Complete fantasy quarters you understand :P

Oops - I left Gasquet out...I may put him in a quarter-final versus Nadal instead of Nalbandian, or alternatively against Hewitt instead of countryman Mahut...

Keep the fantasy line-ups coming - the only nod to reality is they have to be players who will be in the starting draw of 128!!

i can see Federer, Djoko, Berdych, Youshny, Hewitt, Gasquet, Roddick, Ljubicic (for once doing well in a slam). Nalby could be a real outsider, and i would not count Blake out either.

Roddick vs Federer -i would like A-rod to do what Krajikec did to Sampras
Murray vs Djokovic -triple bagel for Murray please
Henman vs Hewitt- i would love Henman to beat him at a wimbledon quarter
Nadal vs Blake- Nadal to win the battle of the babes

semis

Nadal vs Murray
Henman vs Roddick

final

Nadal vs Henman

Winner Timmy   :yahoo: :yahoo:  :yahoo:  :yahoo:

Federer v Safin (head must be together and form must be 'a' game)

Titanic contest a la AO 2005

Ancic v Mahut

Is too good a prospect.. would have split loyalties here!

Djoko v Henman (via bold S&V tactics only!)

The master volleyer agains the rising star!

Nadal (doing S&V too!) v Hewitt

Epic 5-setter with the Aussie desperate to avenge his claycourt beatings and Rafa's comptitive streak being pushed to the max.

Dinky Jo - June 21, 2007 07:45 PM (GMT)
Nadal vs Safin
Murray vs. Djoko (Battle of the young guns)
Mahut vs Roddick (with a different outcome this time!)
Federer vs. Hewitt (I think this could be interesting if Hewitt is firing on all cylinders)

Murray vs. Safin
Mahut vs. Federer

Murray vs Federer final (with apologies to Marat  ) but i would love to see Murray in a Wimbledon final against Fed - would be awesome i reckon!

With Federer winning of course...... ;)

If Ancic isn't playing then I'll go with Jo's one of the re-run of A-Rod v Mahut too..

I'd sooner see Mahut play Grosjean for the French flair bit. A Rod was hardly artistic but it was great to see what such a beautiful game coudl do to a one dimesional heavy hitting one like Roddick's.

Other opponent sI'd like to ses Mahut play against are

Henman
Bjorkman
Murray
Gasquet
Patience

and posibly Mathieu, although I'm not sure of his grass capabilites yet but he seemed to have flair.

Can Mahut play Mauresmo please? :D

the above are all player I like that are diverse and have intersting skills and flair, or grass court style. Other players I'd like to see him play

Nadal - to wallop basically! and stop him having unnecessaruliy long rallies and end every point with a lovely volley. :D

Baghi - I love Baghi and I think a match between the two could be very emotional and involve the crowd. Baghi would also learn from it for grass. :ok:

Hewiit - his tough fighting spirit and baseline skills are second to none, great match up of contrasting styles. :D

Tursunov - to se ehow well Mahut copes compared to Tim, and it could be both an intriguing contrast AND an hilarious mismatch when Tursy has to apprach the net and volley! roflmao

Stick Mahut with anyone - he's just a star, bless him. :D

SuperBRAT - June 22, 2007 03:56 AM (GMT)
Oh and who I don't want to see in the quarters - Nabandian. He's had too many chances and I would rather eat my own claws and stub my ciggie on a semtex ashtray at the same time. Boring, boring, bor ........... zzzzzzz.

SuperBRAT - June 22, 2007 03:58 AM (GMT)
Can I have Mahut v a young Boris Becker? ;)
