Clever clever Wimbledon!
They've stuck to the rankings (only Zvonareva is out) except for moving Venus up from 30 to 24.
What that means is that Venus can't meet any of the top 8 in the 3rd round (seeds 1-8 are drawn against 25-32 in the third round, seeds 9-16 are drawn against 17-24)
So no Venus match up's with a top 8 player until the 4th round at the earliest.

Venus profits from the rejigging for the second time in a row. Good on her. Here's hoping she makes something happen this year that will continue the trend! :D

No she only picked up an injury that required surgery and kept her out for 9 months. Nothing important at all.

Really? :o
Surely the odds aren't that bad for Hingis?
If I can find odds like that I may be willing to have a flutter, I still have a feeling it's just a matter of time before Hingis recaptures her form and wins a slam again..

I cant stand it when people bandwagon and jump on the form horses. Imo the class comes through in Grand Slams regardless of previous form/tournament results. Of course with Hingis it's a slight exception, but I too feel she will recapture some great form sooner or later...probably less so at Wimbledon....but I still think she can live upto her seeding.

God i bet Venus's are terrible then  roflmao
Manzikert - June 22, 2007 06:35 AM (GMT)
Last year's quarterfinalist Li, who would have been seeded 18th, has pulled out due to rib injury, so won't be repeating her success this time out. A shame.
This gives Muller a seeding at 32, I believe. Pfeh. Possibly the least convincing seed time and again in her events, no disrespect to the German.
It's really definite that Hingis will play then? Hard to know what to expect from her. It's her weakest Slam by some distance I think, the only one where she's gone out in the first round - not once but twice - and she's never looked close to repeating her title here unlike at the others. Still glad to have her back, and if she gets a favourable draw in the early running she can still have an impact I'd think.
