I know there aren't many cycling fans on here, but.....this year the Tour de France will be starting in the UK on 7th July. Now i know this happens to be the weekend of the Wimbledon finals, however, if you live or are in the London/Kent vicinity, it may be well worth going along as supporting the Tour, for various reasons:
firstly, there's a British guy named Bradley Wiggins who may well win the first stage, so go along and cheer for him
secondly, the atmosphere of the tour is always amazing - it's such a great spectacle! There will be a large cycling-esque village in Hyde Park, with all sorts of stalls with food (and probably French wine)
finally, this is the first major event that London has hosted since we won the bid for the Olympics (Wimbledon is hosted every year, and doesn't involve closing the centre of London) This is a big deal for London to show that it can efficiently host such a major event! So turn up and support it!
The prologue is a time trial in the centre of london (so the centre of London is pretty much closed btw!), the second stage goes down through Kent!
So if you're in the area and fancy something different after watching the Wimbledon finals :P then go check it out!
