according to the wimbledon website, they've taken a wildcard into the doubles championship. good on them. it has been a while since they've played together, no??
i for one will be looking forward to that pairing :)
The last time they were both fit enough, injruy free enough and bothered to play doubles was AO 2003, it's been a long time coming. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:   :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
Things are finally looking up
I still recall that Venus reached the mixed doubles final last year with Bob Bryan, so she's more than capable of going deep in the doubles draws these days. Obviously the depth in women's doubles is more considerable, but seeing as how the top-seeded teams including 1 and 2 were upset at RG and the 17th seeds emerged as unlikely champions, it's not inconceivable to see a wildcard duo (especially one with a Slam doubles pedigree as impressive as the sisters') holding a trophy (runner-up or otherwise) at the end.
Best of luck to them!
