Title: Li Na

though id start a topic, as i am so sad :(2

Li lost yday at Birmingham, which was okay, as mara played really well... her doubles match, being a set up with Jankovic, she retired due to a "righ hip injury" and now has withdrawn from Eastbourne...

I think Li has sort of given up.. she needs to take a leaf out of Jankovic's book, sure she has an amazing season last year, but she can do better, she has not alot to defend after wimbledon, apart from a 4th round at the US Open...
she still has a weak mentality, which is getting better lately, but like she has said countless times, if she loses, she'll just go shopping.. :P

hope the injury isnt too bad... here is a pic of her shoulder, its a type of chinese treatment, though im not sure how it helps...

I don't think Li Na has given up I just think she had a bad run during the clay court season. I mean she did so well in Miami and Indian Wells that it's clear she has the potential to break the top 10. Reaching the QF of Birmingham is a solid start to the season. If she had no motivation she would have dropped out sooner. Maybe it's best she takes a week off to hit the practice court and focus on defending her Wimbledon points rather than toiling on the windy courts of Eastbourne which has such a high quality field that she might not get very far and just lose confidence in her game.

Li Na isn't one of my favourite players, but she is talented and will always be a threat and I think still has the drive to do well.

Li likely to play at Wimbledon

China`s world number 18 Li Na is likely to play at Wimbledon despite pulling out of a warm-up tournament this week because of a muscle strain, the China Tennis Association (CTA) said on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old became the first Chinese to reach the quarter-finals of a grand slam tournament on her first appearance in the main draw at Wimbledon last year.

"Li Na has strained a muscle in her chest," Xie Miqing, CTA spokeswomen, said by telephone.

She decided not play in Eastbourne this week to give her time to recover from the injury. She is unlikely to pull out of Wimbledon."

Zheng Jie, one half of last year`s Wimbledon women`s doubles championship winning team, has already been forced to withdraw from the tournament because of a left ankle injury.

Yan Zi, who won Wimbledon and the Australian Open doubles with Zheng last year, will now be partnered by world number 47 singles player Peng Shuai, Xie said.

The CTA reacted strongly last week when China`s Olympic medical chief, Li Guopeng, accused it of allowing Zheng to play through the injury at the French Open.

"We will not harm our players in order to defend a title," Xie said.

The 121st Wimbledon championships start on June 25.

PHEW! Li should be playing!
