Title: is Federer the weakest number 1 ever?

Tennis_Mad_Andy - June 16, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
answer is.......

NO roflmao

Just thought this thread would attract a few trolls and a few Federer fans who hate the trolls on BBC boards ;)

Federer is in fact the greatest player of all time already IMO and he has another 6 years or so left to achieve even more! Just a magician of a tennis court to be honest.

Irrefutable factual analysis, excellent post, outstanding post, and (bigger nastier trolls) "your place will be in heaven" etc etc

Tennis_Mad_Andy - June 16, 2007 07:16 PM (GMT)
Well I like to tell the truth :D

Not sure why the trolls slate Federer considering that I bet none of them who slate him could even win a club level tournament let alone loads of grand slams!

Bet they are just armchair fans who hardly play tennis but love to watch it and sit there criticising the players for not returning a 150MPH serve or a 95 MPH winner down the line

Indeed :ok:

And the thing is, they bang on about flawless statistical analysis.. You know what, statistical analysis is often all that they have as they haven't actually seen the matches that they are talking about! And stats fail to tell the picture so often.. ;)

But your point about armchair fans being overly critical about players is an excellent one. Professional players aren't perfect, they make mistakes at work, just like everyone else, and have, as the sporting cliche goes 'a bad day at the office' from time to time.

And there aren't many IT Microserf/ Teacher/ accountant/ lawyer message boards pulling peoples' work to pieces are there? ;) "Yes this is a 'weak era' of IT workers compared to the lions of the dot com explosion era' etc.. :coffee:

Tennis_Mad_Andy - June 16, 2007 07:29 PM (GMT)
Exactly petalp! As soon as one of the players they dislike has a bad match they come down on them like a ton of bricks. Like if Federer loses against Nadal at the French they just can't wait to come out and say something bad about him.

They must get so excited about doing that, must be their only real buzz in life roflmao

It was like that when I first joined the old BBC boards last January, if Henman won the usuall henman haters would keep a low-profile and not post for a few days, then as soon as he lost... BAM, there they were about 15 minutes later posting a thread like "Loser Henman time to call it a day" or "Hopeless Timothy goes out"

It annoyed the heck out of me, and while I like Federer and I like to watch him play, I'm not a big supporter who follows his progress like I do with Henman, because Henman has always been who I have followed through good or bad. I do like Fed though and I appreciate how much of a great player he is and I feel sorry for the Federer fans who have to read the stuff those trolls write, I went through it when the Anti-Henman fans came out when he lost a match and I know how annoying it gets!

The problem for Federer, the more he achieves, the more some people expect him to achieve . Winning the FO final last week would really have been the tennis equivalent of walking on water , and even he couldnt achieve that . Still he's the holder of three GS titles, hardly a career in decline as some would say . :bs:

*bleep*ing ousnatdingpost. i'm too drunk to read anything but ther titler, but it's clearly ther best article writtenont thios board. good post.

If it's such "flawless" statistical analysis, then how come we are never allowed to see the analysis, or is it top secret? :D

dl04 - June 17, 2007 09:29 AM (GMT)
Yes he is the weakest number 1.......... he should never have done than Aneka cover roflmao

Seems to be the prerequisite around here at the moment, if the behaviour of Trisco Liam and Wise are anything to go by ;)

To be fair, they don't get that much attention here, thankfully..

Also most people posting here used to post on the beeb board, so there's a bit of a connection there.

Mind you, I don't think that any of the regular posters here post on the beeb anymore, so it certainly is less relevant than it used to be :)

vivahate - June 17, 2007 04:24 PM (GMT)
it just makes me roll my eyes when people are like "wow, that must have really irked those trolls on the beeb board". they're losers and ignore them. they feed on the attention they're given.

and yes, clearly roger federer is the weakest number 1 ever roflmao roflmao roflmao roflmao roflmao
