Title: Justine on grass

does she really smoke dope?

only kidding, if not for the Williams return to action, and Sharapovas impressive run to RG semis, i would have thought she was a dead cert for wimbledon this year. I actually think she could beat any of those three, but only if she meets them before the final, although im not sure whether Masha would be seeded lower than 2?

I think she could beat Sharapova - just like Mauresmo did last year with greater variety & an aggressive net game. Her slice BH which worked so well against Maria in the WTA Champs would be even more effective on grass.

They wouldn't meet until the final though - they will be the top 2 seeds.

Can't see Wimbledon bumping up Serena into the top 4 since it would mean demoting the defending champ Mauresmo to a 5-8 seeding.

They might bump Venus up from 31 though.

I cant see her losing her Eastbourne title either, although im hoping Petrova gives her as good a game as Myskina did last year

No I can't see anyone beating Henin at Eastbourne this year.

Petrova & Mauresmo are both in uncertain form and we know Kuznetsova's problems with Justine!

I know it won't happen but I'd love Myskina to suddenly find her form and push her to the last point again.

Really looking forward to it!!

It's the only thing getting me through very dull days at work at the moment.

Don't you just love the grass court season - the only time when Tennis becomes the number 1 sport in the UK!!

Hopefully Justine will defend her title and we'll get to see her in the semis & the final!

Absolutely QJ,

One thing about grass (apart from the game)is just the way it looks-after weeks watching red clay on TV, I'ts such a tonic for they eyes -it seems so refreshing to look at.

Only because Justine said that if she gets to the SF of RG she won't play Eastbourne, but I guess that was before she drubbed Serena, Jelena and Ana in two sets roflmao . She most probably thought they would be much harder than they actually were :lmaao: :B&B:

I think Justine has a very good chance in Wimby this year. It was a shame she couldnt win it last year. The only person who could stop her is serena if she is in good form. Justine's game is well equipped for the grass. She has good serve, good vollying skills, a great back hand (both drive BH and a great slice) and moves well. I dont think SHarapova would even reach the semifinals this year.

Yelena - June 17, 2007 10:16 PM (GMT)
I found it boring without her last year.
She may not have a great personality on court; but that's the way most singles players are. Aren't we?
:fserve:

I have the scientific explanation why Justine has not won wimbledon yet.......

She does not like playing in whites :o
