Title: Queens Doubles
liam_valid - June 11, 2007 05:19 PM (GMT)
Some unexpected pairings this tournament. Tims hooked up with old nemesis and possible 3rd round opponent Hewitt. Safin is up to his usual craziness by teaming up with Bogdanovic :yikes: and our own Jamie Auckland has bagged Ginepri!!! Lopez and Nadal also in the draw

SuperBRAT - June 12, 2007 03:42 PM (GMT)
They do thsi so as they get extra match practice as grass is too short a season. I look forward to Henman and hewitt, t coudl be great or a complete disaster! roflmao
Bouterac who has teamed up with Jamie Murray is impressive for a young 'un. In fact they make a good team, I hope they do well. :ok:
GS2 - June 12, 2007 04:05 PM (GMT)
Safin/Bogdanovic is surely one of the oddest pairings in doubles ever!!
Lucky James Auckland pairing up with Ginepri (saw him topless practicing in Melbourne this year - his abs are incredible  )
Henman/Hewitt could be a good team though - complimenting each other well.

Lopez and Nadal out at the first hurdle

And Hewitt and Tim win 10-8 in the breaker :yahoo:
SerenaW19 - June 12, 2007 05:50 PM (GMT)
Wow they scraped their way through that, what a mighty duo
petalp - June 12, 2007 05:58 PM (GMT)
Boggo and Safin? :o
Hewitt and Henman? :o
*imagines Pebs in some sort of shock, on seeing that*
welcome to the crazy world of the all-too-short grass season..!! roflmao
Pees me off that the grass court season is so short. It's just, well.. better.. :)
Re: doubles.. whatever next? Alan Mackin and Fat Dave? A Parmar comes out of retirement to partner a surprise wildcard in the shape of R Federer?

I wish they'd televised those matches. Safin and Bogo won in straights, Henman and Hewitt in a 3 set marthon, 10-8 in the MTB. :o More excitement than the singles I saw anyway.
I think Tim and Lleyton have the number 8 seeds next, Friedl and ???
The reason for the odd mixes is to give them more time on the grass with the season being so short. I hate that, we have bloody clay and hard for ages!
Come on BBC -show us more doubles.

Yes! Dunno if they showed it, but I see that Murray/Butorac won in straight sets :yahoo: not sure who they've got next but would be nice to see them do well here and at Wimbledon - especially as clay obviously isn't their surface

Yes they did well by all accounts. 6-1 6-3 I think against more experienced players. I must check who they play next but I don't think it is anyone too dangerous - not Bryan bros or Bjorkman and Mirnyi yet.
If Tim and Lleyton win, they are likley to meet Knowles and Nestor.
Dinky Jo - June 14, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
Hewiit/Henman take the second set 6-3.
Btw, the commentators yesterday suggested that the reason that Safin and Boggo are playing doubles together is 'cos Peter Lundgren suggested it.

Tennis_Mad_Andy - June 14, 2007 03:32 PM (GMT)
Yep Henman and Hewitt won :D :D :D I was following that match on livescore while watching Boggo vs Roddick on T.V (who says men can't multi task ;) ) and im delighted Henman and Hewitt won it, Henman badly needs match practice and confidence and I think this will help him no end!

Glad they won though.
And I see Henman is giving Nottingham a go - he must read this site ;) Glad to see he is getting as much in as he can.

Wish I'd seen that. BBC didnt; show it  I am really curious to see how they work as a team. And I wanna see Safin and Boggo also.
You are right Andy - it's great practice for Tim and he's winning matches so good for the confidence :ok:
Maybe they will win the title, it is quite ironic how Hewitt of all folk went out in round 1 to a qually, and Tim should not have lost either. Maybe it's a sign ........ :ok:

Yea that is really good news indeed. B) At least he has the right attitude, he's prepared to take any match he can get and that is the best he can do for now. He will hopefully string a few wins together to boost his confidence. :ok: Wish I'd have know he might be going cos my family live there and I coudl have arranged to go.

Hope you enjoy it and get to see Tim. :D I won't be going, even if there are tickets now I have too much to do this week.
Did you have to book far in advance Andy? Just wondered cos years back I remember tickets being available on the week cos I used to be in Nottingham.
Where will you stay? Cheer Tim on for me won't you? :ok:
liam_valid - June 15, 2007 10:18 AM (GMT)
there will prob be tickets available up until the final, although Tims decision to play there would have bumped the sales up a bit

Same here - I must be the only boy in my class who's never seen a tennis match for real...
(feel like those boys who would say "I'm the only boy in my class who ain't got a Gameboy  roflmao )
Tennis_Mad_Andy - June 15, 2007 07:14 PM (GMT)
Well Nottingham is only 25 miles up the road so I will leave Leicester at 10am and get there about 10:40 :) just in time for the 11am opening time.
I booked the tickets about 2 days ago, just to make sure i got some for the opening day on Centre Court, because Tim playing will defanitly boost sales and apperantly there was 5000 already sold in advance to the tournament about 5 weeks ago so I thought I had better get them quick just incase!
Seems Tim and Lleyton aren't playing after all today then? :(
