Title: tim got robbed.
Flame - June 17, 2006 02:46 PM (GMT)
that's my take and i'm sticking to it. at least let him get beat by his opponent and not the linespeople and umpire. imo tim was the better man on the day and should be in the final. i'm so angry.
styeffo - June 17, 2006 02:49 PM (GMT)
I agree up to a point, sadly he let the calls (AND THERE WERE ENOUGH OF THEM!) get to him.
Can't afford to do that....head goes down and then he gets drubbed!
'Tis sad!
Flame - June 17, 2006 02:52 PM (GMT)
if i'd had THAT much go against me, i would have lost it too. i would have been a raving lunatic by the end. even more so than now.
styeffo - June 17, 2006 02:55 PM (GMT)
"There were so many tight line calls and they can't get it right every time."
Quote on Beeb tennis page....what more can you say?
SuperBRAT - June 17, 2006 03:03 PM (GMT)
There werer TOO many bad calls, at very crucial times. They certainyl cost Henman dear, as they were on break points, like in set 3 when Hewitt broke when he shoudl nto have done. Poitn is that th eumpire was overruling, and he shoudl NOT unles she is sure. We saw them all on the BBc replayed three times so we know that they were wrong. It wasnt; occassional and excusable, it was disgraceful show or unproffessional and wreckless umpiring. Tim had to work harder to win points due to these calls and was unjustly broken. Also the umpire was overuling the line which he cannot see well and shoudl leave to the lineman - who was right!
well i feel robbed and so shoudl Tim. Okay, he might have still lost at 7-5 or something but really he di dnto deserve that crap and to go down 6-2.
If people are going to do a job they should bloody well do it properly adn they should be monitored liek every one else and fired if their performanc ei sshite.
styeffo - June 17, 2006 03:11 PM (GMT)
Would Tim gotten fined if he dint shake the umpires hand?
Flame - June 17, 2006 03:14 PM (GMT)
he definitely would have been fined if he'd gobbed at him like some people have suggested. :D
styeffo - June 17, 2006 03:15 PM (GMT)
I have 2 admire him for not pulling him OFF the chair!

No it happens a lot
JymJilly - June 17, 2006 03:16 PM (GMT)
I would have liked to shake them wonky legs on the umpires chair until he begged for mercy :) :) :P :P
JymJilly - June 17, 2006 03:19 PM (GMT)
He has had plenty of dodgy calls go in his favour over the years has Tim so even though it sucks the better player on the day won.
Tim however played excellent top drawer Tennis he should be very proud and positive going into Wimbledon. Great match apart from them that need to go to specsavers  Lets not forget he played a top player here today . And he did great all week only dropping one set. Well played Timmy
styeffo - June 17, 2006 03:21 PM (GMT)
He played so well, and then his head went...shame!
JymJilly - June 17, 2006 03:24 PM (GMT)
Shame yes . What is it about England , the Englander ;) and semi finals :o :o
JymJilly - June 17, 2006 03:25 PM (GMT)
The moral of the story is.
Do not employ linesmen with a white stick and a guide dog roflmao
styeffo - June 17, 2006 03:25 PM (GMT)
he was so dominant as well, it really was a meltdown.
Gutted for him totally
JymJilly - June 17, 2006 03:26 PM (GMT)
Me too he went to bits but Hewitt did up his game a lot.
welshboy91 - June 17, 2006 03:32 PM (GMT)
i liked Henman's attitude on court today; he was v.feisty

Big Al - June 17, 2006 07:29 PM (GMT)
He was badly done by. But he shouldnt have let it get to him .At least it wasnt a Wimbledon semifinal. He can genuinely take a lot of positives this time :)
He played better than Hewitt. Ive never seen him so aggressive, hitting winners from all over the court. Classy stuff.
Just a pity the umpire was crap. :(
Flame - June 18, 2006 11:55 AM (GMT)
they printed my letter on this topic on ceefax page 359. eat that middle england.

Nick Havoc - June 18, 2006 12:00 PM (GMT)
Well, good luck to Tim for Wimbledon. I hope he does well. (At least until he meets Agassi, where hopefully Andre will get revenge. :))
Flame - June 18, 2006 12:33 PM (GMT)
it's a gem of a photo isn't it? i crack up every time i look at it.
Pebs - June 18, 2006 12:37 PM (GMT)
Oh guys, gutted, totally gutted to read the stuff here and on the beeb today about how fantastic Tim was playing and how the calls were going against him left, right and centre.
I agree, he shouldnt have let his head go down and just crumple when it got bad, but it sounds like these were total, total stinkers and at the most crucial times. You can get over them if there are not so many, but when they are coming at break points and changing the rythym of the match - its bound to affect you.
I just hope that Tim takes his usual positives ;) and goes on to kick some ass at Wimbers - he could start with that Umpire if he sees him strolling round the place.... :D
Flame - June 18, 2006 12:46 PM (GMT)
oh Pebs, i was jumping up and down when he broke for 2-0. he was making hewitt look like a chump. then he went 3 break points down (like you knew he would at some point). saves 2 of them brilliantly. hits a great shot that clips the line on the 3rd. and it's belatedly called out. i'm screaming at the top of my lungs at this point. broken back instead of deuce and they might as well have shaken hands right then. cause it was over. in the worst way possible. gutted. absolutely gutted.

Sounds like one of those heartbreakers - when you just know he should have taken it....
Roll on Wimbers I say...
And in the meantime, I hope Blake whips Hewitts arse.
Flame - June 18, 2006 12:57 PM (GMT)
if he plays like he did against roddick, he'll whip hewitt's arse and look good doing it.
Flame - June 18, 2006 02:34 PM (GMT)
cack. that should be tim lifting that trophy now.

I agree, the final was mediocre. Blake was no competition really and I think tim played better than both of them. Fair play to Hewitt, he got the job doen though.

roflmao I was laughing, but I was also very excited when he hit winners and broke. I was clappign an fjumping up and down, all on my own! I overheard my neighbours saying that I must be watchign somethign good! But I threw my Stess Pig up the wall a few times! Poor thing has taken a battering. roflmao
Big Al - June 18, 2006 05:16 PM (GMT)
It was really funny listening to him having a go at the umpire. And Hewitt, who said something bad enough for Tim to tell him off . I couldnt hear very well what was said , commentator apologised so it must have been bad.
I did hear Tim saying :bs: to the umpire who lookes very uncomfortable at that point.
WimbledonAce - June 19, 2006 06:52 PM (GMT)
I love that pic Flame, just about sums it up! I'm still sad for Tim, he had it in the bag really and he couldve beaten Blake. C'est la vie I guess but I was so p***ed off with that umpire! It was like he really didn't want Tim to get through. Poor Tim had to play several games twice as he had already won them, what a nightmare. Can not feel pleased for Hewitt in the slightest and I must say I didn't see many congrats floating about! Lets hope he can keep form for Wimbers, come on Tim!
