Interesting article.

Difficult to believe that after the 2 losses to Canas, Roche and Fed did not talk once.

Quite interesting but its like deadbeat news. Its kinda like they scraping the bottom of the barrel for a story coz Federer is so private. They make it all so dramatic! People get fired lets move on...Roche passed his sell by date with Federer thats life,Thats why they werent speaking! Game Set and Match!!!!!!!!

Being a coach of the man who hunts down every record in the book of tennis history, you can't afford to be irrespective of quite a few bad results.
Tony should have made a move, but he chose to let things fade away. Not very chique.

But why? The player is the employer, the coach the employee. Roche was on a 15/16 week a year "handshake" contract. Surely he was entitled to think that if Roger didn't contact him, he didn't need any help/guidance etc. I recall Roche saying publically (and must have said this privately to Roger surely) at the start of their partnership that anytime Roger wanted to call him he was there at the other end of the phone or email.

Peter Lundgren once said it was difficult to know what was going on inside Roger's mind half the time!

I spoke to someone I know in Australia this morning, and she mentioned how she now hated Fed 'cos he had said some 'awful' things about Tony Roche.

Now i've not heard Fed say anything bad about Roche, except about the lack of communication, but from what I can gather the Australian media have been really really scathing of Federer's decision to fire Roche, and also blamed Mirka for a lot of it.

Obviously a lot of this must stem from Roche being Aussie, but has anyone heard/read anything about Federer saying anything bad about Roche??? I really just can't believe that he would..... :(

And who is in charge of the Australian Media?

Interesting read. Not sure I believe in the slump.Maybe a couple of the losses were strategic.Beating Nadal on clay in Hamburg and reaching the final in RG is hardly a dire result.Let's just see how Fed fares at SW19 and later in the season..
