Title: Nadal Silently Going through The Draw
Description: Scary to say the least!

Dark_Necrofear - June 5, 2007 08:11 AM (GMT)
Yesterday was the first time of the tournament that i got to see Nadal play.Silently going through the draw going about his business and the way he dispatched of Hewitt is really something to be afraid of. It may sound weird from a Federer fan but I do think that Nadal is really odds on favourite to win the hatric as is Henin. However in both scenarios I want Federer to prevail and Serena to beat Henin.

Over my years as a tennis fan watching the sport intensely, iys always the one that doesnt pay attention to the hype and flys low under the radar that prevails. In this case Nadal seems to be laying so low on the ground you would think he is the red dirt.

Good Luck to both!

Yeah I agree *shock* DN.

Nadal is odds on favourite here, but I think he was even when Federer dealt him his defeat at Hamburg.

He certainly handled Hewitt really well whereas he struggled against him in Hamburg. The clay is playing different here than at Hamburg so it makes you wonder how Roger will be able to handle Nadal.

I still think there is a chance Roger can win this thing, but as pointed out in another thread by Tenez I think, Roger needs a good day at the office.....I also think Nadal will need a bad day at the office too.

You had to agree with me sometime Gav just like I have to agree with eventually somewhere along the line.

What is amazingly obvious is that the tennis GODS dont want Federer to win the French open.Hamburg conditions are evidently different from Roland Garros. The climate was heavier as was the clay. Why I mention the GODS is that those conditions of Hamburg were very much here the first week of the open and now it seems to be heating up drying out the court and making the bounce more playful. This was Hewiits comments yesterday.

Federer is in with a long shot and if he is to defy the GODS then he must do what Kratos did in the game GOD OF WAR,that is not fear them of Nadal and go into that match providedthey both make that final, fearless and with nothing to lose!

But yes, he is going through the draw somewhat. Far from silent though. And he's not exactly had a difficult draw up to now :D

DN, what's so silent about pretty much demolish every opponant he played up till now?
Rafa was hot favourite at the start of the tournement and the odds on Rafa to win have only increased since then.
Last year it was 31 degrees, this year probably 3 degrees less, not much of a difference...

It's hardly silent considering we never stop hearing abotu his progress and also that he talked himself up big style yesterday sayign hsi match was the match of the tournei or something, and how great he is playing.

if you talk about flying low, Andreev is his name. He's playing very impressive (to me the best clay tennis so far, although that doesn't mean he's as tough to beat as Rafa), yet his name is rarely mentioned. I guess that side of the draw is already a formality

i didn't think it was possible for a two-time defending champion to progress quietly through the draw...

If you read the interview, he actually corrected himself immediately, saying that it was *his* best match of the tournament. :)

Sam - June 5, 2007 04:17 PM (GMT)
He undoubtedly deserved to win yesterday, though Hewitt eventually challenged him.

However, the time wasting before his serve in the tie-break was obscene. Its about time the umpires stood up and grew some balls, its disgusting

Nadal played an awesome match yesterday against hewitt. Hardly quiet, but explosive progress.

He's going for the hat-trick :yahoo:

No I didn't see that. I'm not accusing him of bragging, he has every right to brag, its' just that i do not see his progress as silent. Unliek Andreev who no one is talking about and who the BBC never show. :)

I'm not a huge fan but I think we need to see Nadal and Fed in the final and hopefully a great match. :D

Well there's two sides to that coin - Hewitt only played ike the true warrior he is in the third set, and was unlucky to lose it.

Fed-Nadal final - come on, just play it now! roflmao

Andreev has looked pretty damn destructive from what i've seen and heard!

I wish the umpires wouldn't be so silent with Nadal fannying around before he serves - about time he started to get time violations I reckon...

Agreed re: Andreev.

Frankly I am getting a little bored with watching Rafa and Fed destroying everyone in their path..

don't get me wrong.. it's great that the beeb show so much of the French Open now, compared with 2005 and before.. t!! :D

Am also fine with seeing the odd Fed and Rafa games, but come on beeb, give us some variety!!

Bring on wimbledon when there is choice to watch the epic struggles and high dramas as well as the all-too-routine victories. :coffee:

This I agree with...That perpetual time wasting and bum digging really gets ludacris at times. And then we hear that he was composing himself. What crap!!!! They need to give him those warnings quick and fast and put an end to this time wasting nonsense!
