Hey Chokie thats twice we agree in a day :D (see Bjork post :ok: ) I really do hope she decides to try and overcome this injury rather, she is a credit to the game and we need her more than soccer does
vivahate - May 31, 2007 03:37 AM (GMT)
i hope myskina sticks around...

She needs to bring the old hot pants she used to have back...
SuperBRAT - May 31, 2007 10:17 AM (GMT)
Sorry guys, I think she should retire. She might have had an injury and sure that has had a bad effect on her, but really she was on the ropes for ages before that. She's one player I have never had confidence in and I really do wonder how she won a slam. She can hang up her raxquet as soon as she likes and take those hot pants with her! roflmao

SB you sourpuss :P i agree i never thought she would win another slam, but she still had days where she could beat anyone, just not consistently. However, i think she was a charming girl and a great ambassador for the WTA which is why i would like her to stick around

(jim trott eat your heart out!)
SerenaW19 - May 31, 2007 02:42 PM (GMT)
Who's Jim Trott?
Anyway, yeah Id like Myskina to stick around for selfish reasons, when she opens up in full flow her game is the most beautiful to watch imo. I thought her Eastbourne Final with Justine last year was the best match of the year. I would really like her to stick around, can't see her winning another slam or even getting to the QFs, but it would be nice if she could give it one last go. :)
Apparently her toe is still bothering her though :(

No offence but everyone has a player that they think is useless and cant; stand. Myskina being my current pick :D
And in many cases, it seems that all people want her to stick around for has more to do with her arse than tennis! roflmao

I like myskina, i feel she's often viewed as a bit of a brat for her on-court hysterics and her somewhat blase attitude to tennis. However admist all that she's a wonderful person, so intelligent and quite shy off-court too. She's very frank about her perspective of tennis and how she now fits around it. I hope she doesnt quit, but she has been talking about it for some time now which is quite sad to here. At her best, she's a wonderful tennis player, superb mover, great precision and court sense and a superb backhand. Plus she's one hell of a babe
Dont go myskina, you'd be greatly missed, unlike a certain bore of a belgian  roflmao
I dont care if you all hate me for that :P

If she does go she should try show-jumping, but with a helmet

If she can't even run freely (and is unlikely to be able to do so for the foreseeable future) then she should retire.. who said that choice was an issue here?
Or she could do a Capriati, fade away from the game, without committing either way...

Good point. You can't be hampered phsyically to such an extent and still do well. Especially with that kind of game play.
Yeah strange with Capriati I thought. She did just kind fo fade. Then again I guess she had such a great comeback years back that she'd be satisfied and feel she had nothing to prove thsi time around. I quite liked her, lots of grit about the woman. With her it was all about tennis rather than fashion, and doing your utmost to win. The game needs more like her now. :)

This sounds controversial, but I don't think that she was the smartest knife in the drawer and therefore never thought enough to feel nerves and fear.
It certainly contributed to her being a formidable opponent. The RG final in 2001 springs to mind :)

Maybe she wasn't that smart, but sometimes people who think to much and ponder with their intelligence are too thoughtful all the time and therefore more likely to sense fear. I should know becasue my damned partner sometimes thinks himself into this state, as I do at times, and then we end up doing jack becasue we are too scared! if that all makes sense. roflmao
In life though a good quality always has a down side - being thoughful and cautious pays off at times, but then it often doesn;t. Being impusive and risk taking - ditto. In fact I often find it hard to work out what personality to adopt - I seem to have two which is rather scary eh? :yikes: roflmao

Absolutely! :ok:
Not being disrespectful to Capriati here at all.. fearlessness in sport is often an asset..
And as you say, being thoughtful and careful can often be a good strategy to adopt. Don't want ot be gung ho all the time.. that would be a nightmare!!
But also there are very few things of great value to be gained without an element of risk involved..
Oops.. am I managing to hijack another thread with ethical issues??

Capriati has said she wants to play 6-7 tour events, her favourite ones I assume before she officially retires.
Seles said the same, although Im not too sure about her. But Capriati I think might.
Also BJK said once that she thought Capriati was at her best when she was just whacking the ball and not thinking about it. Because she had such natural strokes she was able to play her best tennis that way.

That's exactly what I think. Unofrtuneately I end up being gung ho at the wrong time and ponderous at the wrong time mostly! roflmao It's liek our house move - there are arguments that we shoudl tno move in case prices go down, and if Geroge had his way he'd have us living in a caravan until prices crash and we can clean up. However, I've decided I'm not doing that and I'm bloody moving regardless. I've waited 7 years and that's that. And I'm no spring chicken so I keep gettiing told so best get on with it. Oh well, we can't get it right all the time can we? :)

An annoying phrase, often used by armchair viewers who wouldn't know what pressure was if it stared at them right in the face :coffee:

I don't use the term choking lightly, but I can't help but use it sometimes, i.e. Jankovic against Justine in Berlin....
It's funny you mention choking and Capriati though because I've just been watching her FO semi with Serena in 2002, and she misses a shot, not by much mind, and she shouts to herself "stop f**cking choking" It's hilarious roflmao
Of course she didn't seem to realise that Serena was going to win that match whether she liked it or not
