All I can say is (ithe the excpetion of 1 or 2) what a bunch of hiddeously vain and self important low life they have unleashed on us again. Liek those twins. Oh dear!
One thing I would like to know is this - and I'm nto beign funny but serious. Was Tracey a man, woman or a man who'd had a sex change? Looked liek a man with boobs to me :o

With you on all counts SB.
I saw nothing last night that is likely to make me want to watch again - BUT.... I say this nearly every year and will no doubt be completely hooked in a week or two

Oh no! :yikes: I actually find it all boring and avoid watching it. Then again if there is nothing on TV I might get drawn in, assuming I can stand their hollow rantings roflmao Davina Mc Call is annoying enough as it is.
dl04 - May 31, 2007 05:23 PM (GMT)
Who are these people this year!!!! roflmao roflmao
I've seen more intelligence on a toliet seat. A girl in there claims she's famous because she's the cousin of some crappy man u reserve
And then came that big woman who likes protests!
Oh it makes me wild! roflmao
SerenaW19 - May 31, 2007 05:28 PM (GMT)
Oh god is it that time of year again! Inject my cortisone now!
Honestly even for those of us that go out of our way to avoid this show....despite channel four's best efforts to shove it in our faces(!) I still seem to somehow be confronted with the numbskulls of the Big Brother house in my daily life
WimbledonAce - May 31, 2007 07:30 PM (GMT)
Last night was shite, I'm even crosser as I taped the apprentice so I could watch BB  I will still be an avid viewer tho

Bad choice sadly WA. Hope you enjoy the Apprentice though :)

BB is shit.
I'm a twin and I can't possibly imagine talking in unison. Most of them are annoying and self-absorbed.
Laura to win.

*shouts in extra loud voice*
'AAAAAAVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEE IIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!'
how much do you reckon I am going to hear that at school over the next thirteen weeks? - that Tracey gal is going to be this years Pete in terms of quotability it would seem.....
Its well known that I watch this programme - with Mr Pebs a complete addict I dont have much choice - but this year does not bode well as I had to immerse myself in books last week to drown out the noise of all those screaming tosspots..... if someone doesnt slap those twins soon - I will be forced to get down the house and do it myself!
The Dav - June 3, 2007 07:30 PM (GMT)

Not into it this year, no Aisleyne :(

but Dav... you have to watch - you know we love to disagree about all the contestants! ;)
oh god, and can I just say - forget slapping the twins for now.... lets all go down and bitchslap that Charley! Shes soooo fake (you will love her Dav ;) ), crying when it doesnt go her way - which would be much more believable if she didnt check how it was looking every five seconds in the mirror.....
*remembers to breathe*
anyway... apparently thats the tv booked for the next 13 weeks so if I want to keep my sanity and I shall be trying out a few books recommended by Jo!
Lex - June 3, 2007 10:45 PM (GMT)
I watched the first night and fell asleep. It is just soooooo contrived this year.
If it gets especially bitchy, I may watch another...

It's contrived every year. It's drivel, and there is no entertainment or talent. if this is where TV is at in the 21st century it's a f*cking joke. Seriously. Excuse me while I shoot myself.

the thing is, it may be like that for you (a reason to want to shoot yourself  :yikes: ) but the amount of viewers suggests that we like car crash tv - and thats what it is - no talent needed....
and whilst it drives me barmy and I cant stand it half the time - I understand why people come back to view it again and again. I love people watching - its one of my favourite hobbies and even whilst the contestants are going out of the way in the contrivement stakes - they cant help but reveal themselves in other ways at the same time and thats what I find interesting.
Yeah, they are annoying (extremely so this year and the last few years) but if you dont expect any less (and quite frankly I dont from people who sign up for this) then you can sometimes look beyond the annoyance and have a goggle at some seriously odd behaviour!

I don't mind watching such things if there is a talent involved, a competition liek X Factor but otherwise I'm just not into it.
Funnily enough Geroge put Springwatch on the other night, the late night version, adn there was more interesting action in an owl's nesting box than there was on there, and more rational behaviour roflmao
I liek people watching myself and can see why you like it, but the kind of people they have on there don't do it for me. If I do watch it it's accidental really, or if I'm told that something funyn happens.
Whether you like it or not, this being top considered top billing is a sad indicment on the state of society if you ask me.

What does everyone think of Ziggy? He's pretty tasty, wierd mouth though!
Pebs - June 5, 2007 08:22 PM (GMT)
yeah, I can see what you are saying SB - I think when we discussed the idea of this type of show before, we both agreed that the kind of people they have on are so OTT and fake that the shows are more of a farce.
that said, I am a shameless addict (well, part time addict - the full addiction is Mr Pebs bag I am afraid!), as, OTT or not, I cannot quite believe my eyes sometimes and its that which draws me from my book to shouting at the tv!
as for top billing - well, I know its Channel 4s big money spinner but I dont know if its bigger than other primetime shows  but then, some of the primetime stuff is the Soaps and I find them just as ridiculous and, once upon a time, just as addictive!

neck down - quite nice! and I have to say, I have been surprised by the type of personality he has shown - I expected more of a selfish, look at me type of person (slaps self for judging book by cover) and I thought he came across as quite an honest, considerate type of bloke.
It may prove to be an act, carefully calculated for the cameras but so far he gets the thumbs up.

:( thats why I get annoyed with the format of this show now and say to SB that its so far removed from what it set out to be that its hard to defend such a programme. The idea was such a good one but why do they need to find people that may enforce a sterotype image in someones mind?

Mr Pebs is the big addict then is he? :D I know what you mean with Soaps, Iused to watch two but down to one since Brookie ended. I think we watch them for different reasons, and they are not real but drama. I love the dramatic fights and the characters - and tbh they make me laugh! :D They have had thier uses over the years, some interestign topics have been examined and bought to the attention of a mass audience in a more accissible way. They are going a bit OTT these days though, bringing people back form the dead and stuff.
Interestingly I did a whole study thing on soaps at university - who watches them, why, and what thie rappeal is. One thing that was interesting was the idea that they were the onyl programem at the time where a regular viewer is a real fly on the wall and priviledged to knwo all that si going on, whereas the characters don't. it makes us get involved wonderign when such and such will find out her hubby is shagging the neighbour etc. And fo course the audience get involved by trying to advise the character what to do, a bit like real life. And of course the viewer gets to know characters well, a bit liek real life and therefore understand each character and how they operate, and what makes them tick. Quite fascinating stuff really, and at least with the old soaps you could say that yes, they mirrored real life, adn this was the appeal. Maybe that kind of appeal applies to BB then?
Hope this makes sense, surprised I remembered considerign that bump on my head! :D

Yep, this is a huge problem. As everyone has to be so dramatic, I guess they go for exaggerated types of people but it's just sensationalism and will only reinforce stereotypes.

roflmao it made perfect sense hun! and yes, totally agree with what you said about soaps and their appeal. My bestest chum also did Soaps as part of her media studies at college and came to a similar conclusion I think (I just thought she did it as an excuse to watch them though!).
I think you could apply this to the BB format as well - in that, as a viewer we see things that people in the house cant seem to see - hence my shouting - but then, part of that could be because what is presented to me is twisted by the producers to give a certain flavour to the programme - if you know what I mean?
but like I said before, even with the OTT characters, they give away parts of themselves that they probably dont mean too - and because they dont, its never the good parts! That makes it even more infuriating to watch but is also the reason that I then find myself drawn in!
I just cant help it!

Fair enough :D
In many ways soaps, B&B and the likes are bit a like pantomime then- where people shout 'behind you'!
I still prefer soaps as if I watch oen for a logn time, I can develop my fave characters and the ones I hate, whci I enjoy seeing getting their just desserts. :D I think they've ruined modern soaps though, we knwo exactly what will happen but we tune in to see it. years ago you ha dno idea what would happen, there wasn't even an inkling, but nw it's all over the paper.

I heard. Tbh I couldn't give a toss. I don't condoen racism or any 'ism' but I hate the way that C4 is trying to be all holier than thou here and set an example as such. I have seen a lot of offensive language on that show in the past and that has not been challenged. Probably a publicity stunt :coffee:
