liam_valid - May 27, 2007 03:21 AM (GMT)
its my favourite slam of the year :yahoo: :yahoo:   :fserve: (despite the crowd :P ) LET THE GAMES COMMENCE.... (go Mary  )

petalp - May 27, 2007 08:59 AM (GMT)
.. and bbci coverage starts with Serena, then a bit of Marat (and a few posters here like a bit of Marat ;) ) then some Justine and some Venus.

Something for most people then, perhaps? :)

Here's hoping that the rain holds off..

Is BBCi showing the Marat match? I turned it on and it was Serena?

Lex - May 27, 2007 09:29 AM (GMT)
perhaps you can switch matches with the red button (if you have digital that is)

Dinky Jo - May 27, 2007 09:33 AM (GMT)
No, looks like it's only Serena that they're showing :(

'Morning Jo, Lex..

At the begining of the bbci coverage the commentators mentioned that they will be covering the Serena match, and then move on to catch some of the Marat match...

But looking at the Serena match right now, it's looking like a bit of a battle for her.

petalp - May 27, 2007 09:43 AM (GMT)
Pironkova is playing fabulous tennis.. 5-2 up in the first set!! :yikes:

Serena just isn't getting into the game right now.. but taking nothing away from Pironkova, who has already broken Serena in 3 of her 4 service games..

Yeah,. and before my scoreboard stopped working Marat was 5-1 up in the first set. So as long as he doesn't have one of his usual 'moments' that could be over before the Serena one!

I think that the beeb was banking on a straight sets win in the first match. They didn't specify who would win in straight sets though..

Ah yes.. those 'Marat moments'

Jo, my scoreboard is still saying that Pironkova is 2-1 up in the opening set, when it's now 5-3...

So definitely a problem with the scoreboard

Marat has won the second set 6-3!! :D

The Serena Pironkova match has stopped.. maybe they'll switch over to the Marat match now??

hmm.. maybe not...

Lloyd and Smith have gone on about the shambles of the rain delay.. but the beeb coverage (whilst better than nothing) isn't exactly the epitome of efficiency..

There's tennis going on on other courts. Why can't they switch even just for 30 minutes?

After all it'll be that length of time at least before this match starts again..

The cameras are currently showing Richard Williams giving Serena a bit of a pep talk.. isn't that not a bit intrusive??

petalp - May 27, 2007 10:25 AM (GMT)
Marat has broken serve to go up 2-1 in the third set :)

Consolidates the break to go up 3-1..

Davai Marat.. !

Tenez, you just can't beat watching a covered court whilst hearing the crowd applauding Marat going a double break to go up 4-1 in the third set on a nearby court, can you..?

Eurosport switched to Safin :D

Tenez - May 27, 2007 12:19 PM (GMT)
Unfortunately we are most likely going to be deprived of a Nadal v Safin match. I think his game is the perfect match for an upset if he had a good day of course. His successes v Leyton support the idea.
