Title: DEFIANT DROGBA DESTROYS DEVILS DOUBLE DREAM!
Description: FA cup Final!

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:
The first final at the magnificent new Wembley Stadium did not set the pulse racing I think it's fair to say, but what a result, 1-0 to Chelsea after extra time! :D
And if any player on the pitch deserved to get the winning goal, it was Drogba, the real player of the season. It wasn't his day, but he plugged away as he always does, trying his guts out even though Ferdinand tried to get him sent off, and it was wonderful to see him finish off the best move of the match (And leave Ferdinand on his arse at that moment!)! :D
As for United, this was a wake up call. Style doesn't win over substance, they found that out in Milan and today. Ronaldo doesn't seem bothered if it's not his day (unlike Drogba) and is no way the player of the season on today's display and the one in Milan!
Rooney was the only player to do himself justice for United, but Chelsea deservedly won and controlled the tempo of the match for most of it, no matter what the BBC's biased studio says to the contrary!
well done Didier and chelsea!

Should have known that the WUMs would crawl out of the woodwork faster than the trolls come out after a Federer loss.
Do you support Chelsea, Sam? Did you actually watch the game?

i love how bad loser, sorry I mean Fergie was moaning a pen he thought Man U should have had!
hmmm, Sir Al, do you not remember the pens you SHOULDN'T have had against boro??? 3 in 3 games!
do you remember the CLEAR pens that Arsenal, Boro, Sheff Utd and many more have been denied against you this season??
what goes around, comes around Scum fans!
Man Utd lose 2-1 to Roma in Champions League - Fergie blames the pitch
Man Utd lose to AC Milan (decimated infact) in the champions league - Fergie blames the PREMIER LEAGUE for having too many games!!!
Man Utd lose to Chelsea in the FA Cup final - Fergie blames the ref
such a sore loser and I find his excuses highley hilarious, he also stated that he hopes Milan beat Liverpool in the champions league final
if you can't have it, then no other English club can have it eh, Al??? Jealous twit!!!
Yesterday was a victory for football, the bad loser was beaten down again and I for one was laughing my head off

I'm a Leicester City fan, but I suppose of the two teams, I was slightly pulling for Chelsea.
I certainly did watch the game - the fact that it was a largely staccato affairwas the sign that chelsea were controlling the tempo of proceedings - I for one am delighted for them :)

Ignoring straldin's trolling attempts, it was a very poor match overall. A very poor reflection of English football.
The way Chelsea played reminded me a little of how Greece won Euro 2004. Greece showed that you don't need the best players to be able to win things. Chelsea kept things tight and then waited for a mistake to pounce on. Its depressing when football is played like this. Teams are more scared of losing than actively attempting to win a game by playing attacking, attractive football. But results are obviously the most important thing so fair play to them. They had a game plan and it worked. I'm just glad I'm not one of the people who paid £60 (average ticket price) to see it live.
Stradlin: You do make me laugh. Don't just about all football managers come up with excuses when they lose?! Mourinho's not exactly the classiest person is he?! Calling Ronaldo a liar and saying he's stupid because he grew up with a working class background. Mourinho is the classless one if ever there was one.

united didn't really deserve to win that match. good on chelski, i guess. but well done in the league this year

He just is - the way he chews his gum like a dirty goat, the way he moans when his team loses etc.
He thought the Giggs incident was a penalty - get away! And no way it was a goal as Giggs committed the foul on Cech.
He's a nasty piece of work who has got away with a lot because of his success with his club. I was not upset to see Chelsea win lets put it that way.

I'm surprised you're a Man U fan with a name like yorkshire
I never have liked Ferguson, the chewing is not the main reason I dislike him, but is something to add.
He's a neanderthal at times, and I think Mourinho has rattled him this season. Chelsea have suffered much more disruption this season, especially early on which made them have to chase united (goalkeeping injury crisis, Terry injured, best midfielder Essien in defence as a result, Robben, Joe Cole rarely fit etc.). Man U had a few injuries at the back towards the end but it happened too late to seriously affect their title.
Chelsea, all round, are a better side. Them may not have the flair of a Ronaldo, but they are made of steel! Man United still lack an out-and-out striker (how stupid Ferguson was falling out with Van Nistelrooy) and a high class midfield general. Chelsea need less tweaking IMO.
yorkshire - May 21, 2007 11:10 AM (GMT)
I will say that Mourinho has the makings of a top-class manager, but I still think he has a lot to learn. His PR skills especially need a lot of work.
Chelsea's injuries are not the fault of United. All teams have injury problems, it's how you deal with them that counts. You'd think with Abramovich's money they'd have been able to get some cover in but Shevchenko, Ballack and Bouhlarouz have all struggled this season. Contrast that with some of United's latest signings - Vidic, Evra and Carrick - who have all played well this season, Vidic in particular.
Personally I'm a fan of attacking, attractive football. I think that the players and management have a duty to entertain the supporters who pay a lot of good money to watch their teams play. It would bore me to have to watch Chelsea play every week - their keep it tight, snatch a win in the last few minutes style would bore me to tears I think. So I don't think saying Chelsea are a better side is a correct comment - it's just your opinion. They are different sides, that play in different ways.
I think this is where United come unstuck a lot of times, they are, in a way, penalised for trying to play attractive football. But its a results business we're in, so grinding out wins will please the shareholders you would think.

They are different sides - but United are a lot more brittle than Chelsea - there is no way Chelsea would have crashed in Milan like that.
Shevchenko has struggled massively, Ballack has caused more problems by shifting Lampard, and Chelsea have really missed the abilities of fully-fit and in form robben and Cole. Whe those two are on form they are great to watch.
Arsenal play the best football in the league to watch, and if they can add a bit more steel to their side and get Henry fit, they will fly next season. Liverpool are a poor mans chelsea for me.
yorkshire - May 21, 2007 11:19 AM (GMT)
Difficult to say how Chelsea would have done in Milan. It's all ifs and buts at the end of the day. I do think that Milan's style is closer to United's than Chelsea's though. But you're right, Chelsea do have flair players - Cole and Robben - but they always seem to be injured.
I'm just pleased that the Premiership is at least a two horse race. Makes it a lot more interesting than one side winning it year after year. Next season should be very interesting.
Chelsea are a bit like a Nadal, and United are a bit like a Federer. roflmao

Good comparison to tennis players :D
Arsenal are probably a bit like a Safin - can beat anyone on their day whilst taking the breath away!
Liverpool are more Davydenko roflmao - but I wish them well in the Champions League final, though I doubt they will repeat their incredble 2005 win. The fans will no doubt bellow out the wonderful "You'll never walk alone" though! :D

Wise_Analyst - May 21, 2007 03:09 PM (GMT)
I did think United were the better team in a poor match, but not by a significant enough margin for them to count themselves 'robbed'. They can consider themselves unlucky for sure, but having said that, Drogba's goal deserved to win many a match. Excuses by managers are part and parcel of football and always will be.
The new Wembley is fantastic incidentally (aside from the fact that a measly hot dog will set you back £4.90 or something! :yikes: ) - I went down last Saturday to watch Kidderminster Harriers throw away a 2-0 half-time lead to lose 3-2 to Stevenage in the FA Trophy final. They really were robbed  Was a very entertaining game though, much more so than the FA Cup, and it only cost me £20.
Still, all will be forgotten about these matches as long as my beloved Milan annihilate the most boring, negative and overrated team on the planet on Wednesday. Forza AC!

it was actually £8 for a hot dog!
People were told to boycott them and largely did!
Saw a lot of Kidderminster fans in the service station on the way back from the tigers premiership win at Twickenham - they looked gutted. Were you one of them?
Wise_Analyst - May 21, 2007 03:55 PM (GMT)
£8?! They must have put the price up even further for the FA Cup final - that's comically extortionate.
I was pretty gutted that the Harriers lost, but they're not my main team, I just like to follow them because they're quite local. I support Milan - if they contrive to lose to Liverpool, I'll probably be the one throwing a match at the petrol pumps in the service station :moody:

it proves how many Man Utd fans AREN'T from Manchester! roflmao
glory hunters
Alex Ferguson won the champions league with the best team in the world
Jose did not, he won it with a bunch of old men with busted knees!
Keeper Vitor Baia had so many ops that his knees were all bent, defender Jorge Costa was on loan an CHARLTON the year before!!! and they didn't want him!! The next season he was winning the champions league!! how many Charlton players can say that, look it up if you don't believe me.
Pedro Mendes has never really been brilliant in English football and only really Calvalho and McCarthy have been on that success
Jose managed to somehow win the UEFA Cup and Champions League with this bunch of misfits, i sometimes wonder if he would be better at somewhere like Arsenal, where the money is less
Alex 'Sore Loser' Ferguson has never managed to win it unless he actually has the best of the best
Scum Utd have a problem with BIG games, they flopped TWICE against Arsenal, got played off the earth by AC Milan and could not beat Chelsea
had Chelsea had some decent luck now and then they would have walked the title whearas scum were gifted game after game by the refs.
shame really, but in a season of depressing football from my pathetic team, i've been able to laugh at the consistent failure of scum in europe and love the fact that good old Jose has got the last laugh
and hopefully, to rub salt further into fergie's wounds, i'd love to see Pool lift the Champions League

And no OB, I don't think for a minute that it hurts Man U fans to lose out on the FA Cup and Champions League more than it hurt Leeds fans to go down. That's a crazy comment, Man U won the premiership and i'm sure they would have taken that at the start of the season...
Last time I heard Milan Mandaric was a serb by the way... :P

I beg to differ.
considering the millions spent on the team its quite disappointing that they still have not won the Champions league and on top of it they lost to Man U in the league.....a team with much less talented players.
I sure hope Jose gets fired.......he is all talk and sooo arrogant.

United are full of talent - they have Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs, Scholes and many others, I can't believe I heard that! roflmao
Jose and Sir Alex have one champions league title each - as Strads said, Alex did it with an amazing team, Jose managed it with a team that probably wasn't in the top 10 in Europe (Porto). He will be missed if he goes as he is the one man who Fergie has not stamped his authority on and never will! :)

Yes!!!!
Like what I mean is......
Giggs.....nowhere as good as he used to be...pretty old now....same with scholes.
Van der Sar......same with him,
Brown. Smith, Fletcher etc are not anything special thats for sure.
Ronaldo and Rooney are the world class players on that team imo.
What helped them win the League was a lot of effort and teamwork more than anything.
When you look at the Chel$ki lineup its superstar after superstar.

Sorry, you are totally wrong about Giggs and especially Scholes. Scholes is a fantastic player who keeps United ticking. When he is missing you notice the difference in United (In fact England could still do with him).

That chelsea had all the supserstars and really good players and yet couldn't win.

Not sure about the "superstar after superstar" thing either - can't say that people like Mikel, Kalou, Paulo Ferreira etc. exactly light up the planet...
And Claude Makelele is looking past it.
