Nah, he takes it in stride in this thread.

I was hoping Hingis would still make it. A shame really.

liam_valid - May 15, 2007 10:13 PM (GMT)
She had about as much chance of winning it, as Linds has of giving birth to an alien that takes over the Earth and outlaws tennis forever

GS2 - May 16, 2007 08:18 AM (GMT)
That's a shame though I agree with Liam - she had no chance of winning it.

There's a good chance she'll fall out of the top 10 I would have thought.

Although she has a chance to make up points if she finds her form soon, as she doesn't have that much to defend from Wimbledon to the US Open.

Also, Vaidisova has her French points coming up to defend and Ivanovic will have to defend the U.S Open series. So that end of the top ten could become quite turbulent!

About time too actually, the top ten was boringly stagnant for most of last year.

GS2 - May 16, 2007 12:30 PM (GMT)
I know she doesn't have much defend at either Wimbledon or the US Open but she does have San Diego QF & Canadian Open F to defend so it's not quite a free ride.

Also Serena should be claiming her spot in the top 10 very soon and I doubt she will be pushed back out again plus Petrova will be challenging to get back in since she really has nothing much to defend until the indoor season, neither does Chakvetadze plus there is Peer still coming up.

All in all it is going to be extremely competitive!!

SerenaW19 - May 16, 2007 12:38 PM (GMT)
Yes it is, plus I have a feeling Venus will have a great run at the US hardcourt tournies, so if she does ok at Wimbledon she could be knocking on the top ten door before long as well.

It all depends on Martina's health and form. If she can't get these back then she doesn't have a chance to be honest.

vivahate - May 16, 2007 01:22 PM (GMT)
martina will be missed at RG :( :( :(

trisco - May 16, 2007 02:37 PM (GMT)

The French Open will be crap now, no point in watching it, with Murray out as well.

This is generally the worst month in my life, with my team being relegated, and stupid AS exams as well :( :( :(

 Martina will definitely be missed :( She was the most interesting thing about the FO last year for me.

I still think it's shaping up to be a good tournie this year though ;)

Im dying to see Martina and Serena play again, but it seems they never will :(

If Hingis is capable at RG of putting in the type of performance she put in at the AO against Clijsters, im glad she aint playing

you know who i think is responsible for this injury, a certain dickhead who plays on the atp tour

trisco - May 16, 2007 03:40 PM (GMT)
She should go get a new coach, get some new aspect on her game and just work her ass off, once she has sorted the injuries... if little old Henin can generate the power she does then Hingis surely can, just with a bit more of the old technique and tennis head of years ago.

I agree, I do like her style and tennis brain very much. I used to dislike her years back as she seemed very arsy and had a bad attitude, but hey she was young and can forgive her for that. Being in the spotlight at such a young age under so much pressure.

I do think though that Henin is a littel different. She came on the scene later when power was more prevalent and so trained at it form a younger age. it's harder for Martina and maybe she just doesnt; have power.

the lady better be fit for toronto in august. i had plans to stalk her that whole week :D
