you've had one year, if people actually watch that Venus-Lindsay Final I think you'll see that it actually turned out quite boring for large parts, I wanted to get into it but it was impossible because there were so many errors in the first couple of sets!

Hmmm well I'm not a Maria or a Dav fan but I have to say the final was the better match though I do think it was overated - it was really only the drama of the last set that elevated it.

Personally the match I enjoyed most was the QF between Venus & Pierce. Ok the first set was a bit of a blowout but that was simply because Venus was playing at such a high level & Pierce was a little slow to get into the match (unsurprisingly really) though she wasn't playing badly. The second set of that match was probably the highest quality tennis played all tournament - immense hitting from both women. Just a shame it didn't go into a third set.

I remember that, and you're right, Mary put a monumental effort into that second set!

I think it's obvious what I voted for :P

Though Dav, Maria only hit 13 winners because of the tremendous athleticism of Venus...if it was any other opponent, that number could've been doubled.

Still, if the match was of the extraordinary quality that Sam makes it out to be, that number would be higher :)

Oh definitely - and on top of that, the winners to unforced errors differential was better for the two finalists than both Venus and Maria in the semi :)

The semi was a great match, I'd describe it as very intense, but the final was superior...

Great stats for the players, especially after such a long match!

It was so funny seeing Maria's face as Venus retrieved every single one of her best groundstrokes. Venus was awesome that day, really gave Maria a reality check as who is the best grass-court player of the two.

The final was superior, it was Venus vs Lindsay after all, the American legends! :ok:

The first set of the semi had an intesnsity level that was never reached at any stage in the final, obviously Venus and Dav fans will see it differently because the last set will have seemed incredibly dramatic for them...
